is the Bible fully inspired, and is it just 66 books as canon?

NO it doesn't. It starts with His Ressurection, establishing the NEW COVENANT. everything up to that is OLD Covenant. The FIRST TIME that humans were BORN AGAIN of the Spirit is recorded in John 20:22 and Luke 24:45.

I understand what that appears as… but I respectfully disagree they were born again as cited in John.

John 20:20 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

Jesus was instructing them for the day of Pentecost Acts 2:2as of a rushing mighty wind” can be translated “as of a heavy breathing”. Which would resonate throughout the temple due to the acoustics.

John

7:38
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Luke

24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

"Enduement" is an EXTERNAL CLOTHING, not an indwelling. The discipled received the indwelling Spirit at John 20:22, and the immediate effect of that is registered in Luke 24:45

John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

First …It doesn’t say they received or were filled …you are reading into the Word things that are not there. Assuming that is what happened does not make it so…especially when there are several verses that conflict with that. Aside from the truth that you cannot receive something if it is not yet available. …and it was not available until Pentecost.

The effect as you stated in Luke 24:45 is in the context of Jesus teaching them as per verse 44. ↓

24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day.

Conflicting scripture

John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you

Acts 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Eph 4: 8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

A couple Questions:
We know Thomas was not present when Jesus “breathed on them” in John 20:22 …did he get left out….

And do you believe Judas received the indwelling?

The NT starts with the birth of Christ!

NO it doesn't. It starts with His Ressurection, establishing the NEW COVENANT. everything up to that is OLD Covenant. The FIRST TIME that humans were BORN AGAIN of the Spirit is recorded in John 20:22 and Luke 24:45.

Hello Bob;

There are many new believers and disciples of the Bible that may feel confused from the time Christ was born recorded in the New Testament.

For example, when Jesus came to the Jews they were still under the Old Covenant with God. Didn't God's New Covenant with His people actually begin in the book of Acts?

I'd like to suggest you treat this as if you're leading a Bible study. Please elaborate from your statement that supports the time of the Old and New Covenants and Christ's Resurrection. Also, distinguish between the New Testament and New Covenant.

God bless you and thank you, brother.

Excellant points which I agree with.

Also remember Matthew 7:21-23.........
"“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

True, and Jesus spoke and taught in an OLD COVENANT fashion operating in a PROPHETIC mode.
Didn't God's New Covenant with His people actually begin in the book of Acts?
Nope, It Began upon the death of the Testator Heb 9:16,17. Acts 2 is the Holy Spirit UPON the Church (The "Enduement of power from above" Luke 24:49).

John 20:22 (the evening of the Ressurection) is the Holy Spirit INDWELLING the Church (disciples - Luke 24:45).

"New Testament" is only the "label" given to the published writings, beginning with Jesus' BIRTH, and following the effects of that through to John's final prophesy.

The NC atonement was finished at and on the Cross, ratified by the resurrection!
