Agreeing to Disagree does not always Reconcile the True Word of God

Dear brothers and sisters;

Last week I received an invite to attend a ZOOM seminar on the 1st and 2nd Coming of Christ. The speaker proudly announced that their church just celebrated 103,746 graduates online around the world with their version of seminary. Then he went on to speak;

In Matthew 23 the speaker claims this chapter was the 1st coming of Jesus.

In my learning of the 1st coming is when Jesus was born and missioned the earth for 33 years till he died on the cross. In Matthew 23 Jesus was rebuking and loving the Pharisees while calling out the 7 Woes, condemning the religious leaders.

Isaiah 7:14, 14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Matthew 2:1-2, Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

In Matthew 24 The speaker claims this chapter was the 2nd coming.

In my learning how can this be the 2nd coming when He was still in the 1st coming and only God the Father knows when the 2nd coming will occur?!?

In Matthew 24 Jesus tells of the future, the signs of the end of the age. He
does refer to His return by teaching those who stand firm to the end will be saved.

Acts 9:9-11, 9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. 10 And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, 11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”

Revelation 22:12, 12 “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay each one for what he has done.

Revelation 22:18-20, 18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book. 20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!

The speaker made a proclamation of being the "Promised Pastor" that only he can reveal Revelation 1-22 given to him by Jesus. He then challenged us that if we disagree only he appointed by Jesus can reveal all these things in Revelation 1-22.

I find it can be dangerous when a lay person or minister proclaims their calling "directly from Jesus" to a wide audience, especially when I haven't heard of him/her before.

One attendee, a pastor, raised his hand and disagreed with the speaker. He got angry and said that we can agree to disagree. At times we can dismiss a Biblical conversation with,
"we can agree to disagree" but when we merely react and apply that statement just to put a truce on a Biblical conversation, I find that the two parties divide and walk away without settling what the true Word of God is telling us.

I utilized the chat tool in this seminar, pm'd the host about the speaker and said I didn't agree with the speaker's doctrine on this subject but I couldn't speak directly to the speaker because though the ZOOM attendees were present, the speaker was a recording.
lol! So I gave the host my email should this speaker decide to email me.

My point in this thread is Satan can use our disagreements to divide, hate and break down the bond and fellowship of believers, eventually hindering our personal Christian maturity.

Instead, test all who speak Scripturally, Biblically and check what people present in their teachings of the Word. Discuss it! Take notes, re-read the Scriptures and pray what God says and then ask Him to guide you in your continued discipleship and discussion. One way or another, God always reveals His Truth. The benefit here is God's Truth helps us grow as more effective disciples.

Psalm 26:2, 2 Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heart and my mind.

1 John 4:1, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

1 Thessalonians 5:20-22, 20 Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good. 22 Abstain from every form of evil.

What are your thoughts?

God bless you all and your families.

Only two...three

John 17:17 (KJV) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

1 John 2:19 (KJV) They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

Isaiah 8:20 (KJV) To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Sounds confusing Bob.

Although I sometimes think teachers use this trick of saying something is wrong, just to test that their students are really listening!

Then when their students correct them, they know they have actually been studying and learning.

My thought Bob is that you were watching a FALE teacher tell you what HE wanted you to believe. What you stated that he said is absolutely not Biblical and should be rejected completely.

We can not have fellowship with those who purposefully change and distort the Word of God.

We live in a day when men are trying to do one thing.......MAKE MONEY!

Barnum Baily was the one (I think) who said that "A fool in born every minute".

Hello, Lanolin;

At first I was confused
from the first impression. I gave the benefit of the doubt when the speaker started with a Christian greeting and then when he presented his proclamation and doctrine, it did not align with Scripture.

Hello, Major;

Amen!
This is why it is so important for all of us who are committed to Christ, read the Bible and pray! Ask God those hard questions that we don't understand in the Word. He promises to make clear everything for His glory and our benefit.

Lanolin made a point about confusing. Yes, at first we may get blindsided but when we remain disciplined in the Word and our prayers, the confusion melts away because our growth in truth and spirit doesn't compromise our discernment against the false teachers.

Finally, test the Spirits and see if the speaker, preacher or teacher is from God. I gave my email to the ZOOM host so this person could contact me. Since then I haven't heard back.

God bless
you both and thank you for your thoughts and good advice.

Anyone else?

Hmm. Having read about what that guy was claiming, it smacked of amillennialism. Hank Hanegraaff (sp) is a proponent of that system of thought.

I for one have never set out to push for anyone to believe otherwise from whatever they want to believe about eschatology. What matters is that Jesus is coming again, and will have all His saints with Him. Those who don't want to be a part of that...well...it is what it is.

When it comes to Matthew 24, that one can be confusing until one puts together what is said in that chapter, and cross-reference it with Daniel, Revelation, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah, I and II Thessalonians, et al.

When ANY minister/teacher/"prophet" claiming to be a CHristian makes a statement like:

"The speaker made a proclamation of being the "Promised Pastor" that only he can reveal Revelation 1-22 given to him by Jesus. He then challenged us that if we disagree only he appointed by Jesus can reveal all these things in Revelation 1-22".

Then you NEED to write the FOOL off as a false teacher, and cross them off your list of people to listen to.

Wow, this "preacher" would have a lot of explaining to do to make his "teaching" align or agree with Paul's teachings in his letters to the church.

The truth is however......those kinds of comments are made on a regular basis.

Several years ago...(30) I happened to be at my fathers church when his pastor said in a sermon that "I know the meaning of the 7 thiunders in Revelation 10.

Rev. 10: 4 however says .............
"And when the seven thunders had sounded, I was about to write, but I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said, and do not write it down."

After the semon I asked this Baptist Dr. how he knew this and quoted verse #4 for him.

His answer was....."AS A Prophet of God, He has reveled it to me and only to me".

That example is the prescription for what we see as FALSE TEACHERS. They only have themselves as the authority for their opinions.

Hello BibleLover;

Amen to that! Here's the funny part. The speaker challenged any pastor in the ZOOM audience by raising our hands and he would meet one on one. The thing is we were live but he was a recording! lol!

So I messaged the facilitator and gave my email asking the speaker to get in touch with me. I never heard from them.

Sounds like heresy of full preterism!

I try not to do too many unncessary zoom meetings as they can be quite tiring.
Actually I am not that great meeting in person anyway!

I think having once a week is ok, but maybe not every single day for 4 hours or whatever.

Hello Lanolin;

I would love to meet you, Via, crossnote, and many others here for "in person" fellowship.

But I do agree with you that too many ZOOM meetings can be weary. In the church I've been told by other Pastors it has expanded the way we meet and worship, but it also has become an excuse for their members to stay home in their pajamas while multitasking during the worship service.
Seriously!
