What is troubling to me though is just how they view Ellen White, and also taking Sabbath keeping to an extant that makes it borderline works, and also that cursed Investigative Judgement that denies Pauline JustificationI see them as a Christian denomination obsessed with Sabbath keeping and Eschatology. They were once considered a cult, but that changed when it was seen that their theology was basically orthodox, and they believe that people must be born again by grace through faith in the crosswork of Christ.
A really loaded, yet simple question. As a Christian church with some peculiar doctrines, or as a church similar to like Mormons or JW?
Agreed.I see them as a Christian denomination obsessed with Sabbath keeping and Eschatology. Yes.....their "Investigative Judgement" is very non-Biblical.What is troubling to me though is just how they view Ellen White, and also taking Sabbath keeping to an extant that makes it borderline works, and also that cursed Investigative Judgement that denies Pauline Justification
Yes.....their "Investigative Judgement" is very non-Biblical. They teach that Christ moved from the Holy Place to the Most Holy Place in the heavenly sanctuary on October 22, 1844, and began a new phase of ministry. This ministry was foreshadowed by the Levitical Day of Atonement (Lev. 16:16-33).
They believe that Christ started this judgment in 1844, beginning with Adam and Eve and progressing chronologically down through the ages, judging all of the dead believers. At some point, near the end of time, Christ will begin judging living believers. During this Investigative Judgment God either blots out the sins of the believer, or he removes the name of the believer from the Book of Life.
Whenever one of God's followers commits a sin and asks forgiveness from God, that sin is transferred into the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary. It remains there until the Investigative Judgment is completed. At the end of time, all the sins of the righteous are transferred from the Sanctuary onto the Scapegoat, who is Satan. Satan then suffers the final punishment for his sins and all the sins of the righteous.
Here are some problems with SDA teachings regarding the Investigative Judgment.
God already knows who are His own - SDAs teach that God must make an investigation to determine whose names to keep in the Book of Life, and whose to blot out. The Bible teaches that God already knows who the righteous are.
God already knows everything about everyone - One of the attributes of God's nature is "omniscience" which means that God knows everything that is possible to know. There is nothing that God does not already know.
When are sins blotted out? - The SDA sect teaches the sins of the righteous are not blotted out until after the Investigative Judgment.3 The Bible teaches that our sins are blotted out when we repent:
Isaiah 44:22......I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee".
Acts 3:19...."Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord"
1 John 1:7 "...and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin".
It is a very complex and confusing SDA doctrine but it is the center of their theology.Good morning, Major;

Without listing more, your good point is there. Forgive me for being sarcastic, but with these beliefs of those, they can just sit comfortably knowing their names are already in the Book of Life, take it easy and wait to be taken to heaven.
The disciplined Christian knows better than to make arrogant claims for they're not truthful. Instead, pray for God's guidance in a daily ongoing, growing relationship, live in obedience, be mindful of our heart and tongue, and look forward to either the return of Jesus or when we go to our Maker, whichever comes first.
God bless you, Major.

Ellen White also stated "per revelations" that those in that Judgement would not have Jesus as Mediator, as God will judge them as to how much confirmed themselves to the Law, and if that was the case, then all would failYes.....their "Investigative Judgement" is very non-Biblical.

By making that Investigative Judgment the centerpiece of their Gospel message, Sda denies Pauline Justication, and indeed hold and teach "another gospel"It is a very complex and confusing SDA doctrine but it is the center of their theology.
To me, it is about as silly as the Mormon theology of a Father God and Mother God having sexual relations on a far away planet.
The fact are that It has now been over 180 years since the Investigative Judgment supposedly started back around 1850. Even if God didn't know who was going to be saved prior to October 22, 1844, He could figure it out in less than a nanosecond. He does not need centuries to perform this task!
The truth is that in 1844, God already knew everyone that was saved. In fact, before the world even existed He already knew the exact list of which humans would be saved and which ones would be lost. Why would God need to "investigate" something He has known since before the dawn of time?
The bottom line of this is that the SDA theology teaches that the Atonement is not finished until the Investigative Judgment is completed just prior to the second coming of Jesus. However, The Bible teaches the Atonement was finished when Jesus died on the Cross:
John 19:30..........Jesus said, "It is finished".
Hebrews 10:12-14...........
"But this man [Jesus], after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified".
This teaching is why Sda states that none should ever say I am now saved, as that Judgement has yet to come to themIt is a very complex and confusing SDA doctrine but it is the center of their theology.
