What issues would cause you to no longer be a member of a local church. to seek out another church?

What to you are black and white issues that would cause you to be forced to leave a church?

Water Baptism modes, if went o just one translation version, started to go Charismatic, or what?

Anything that clearly goes against the word of God. There is room for different traditions but there are commands that we must obey and not compromise.

Non biblical family dynamics
Word of faith /prosperity
Irreverent
Pro-choice

things that are blatantly against the word of God.

Such as accepting same sex weddings?
Yes

Yes
Allowing any form of Charismatic activity then?

If they were teaching the NAR (New Apostolic Reformation) false teaching. They are like a ship with the rudder (false teaching) taking them off course. Our heading is Christ - His character and HIS purposes.

Being there are so many pastors on here, I will respond even though I truly believe women are to be silent in the churches. This to me, includes male dominated threads on this site. I occasionally make exceptions, as this is one. I see many behaviors which I find unacceptable, like gambling (slots machines and lottery tickets are). Adorning one's self with costly array (just because you can afford it does not mean it wasnt costly). A closet full of clothes and shoes (more than 20 pairs is definitely costly array). If you have things in your home you have not used in over 2-5 years. Do you have more than two vehicles? How about a motorcycle, boat, RV, or summer home? If you do, guess who sees you spending your congregation's money when there are many who need it more than you do. What ever happened to living a humble life as a servant of the Lord, teaching others by example? If anyone thinks this is harsh, guess what our Father thinks in the name of His Son Jesus Christ. Ive seen all of this and so much more in our churches today which makes me run. I have enough scripture in me I can discern for myself when I dont agree with bad teaching. However, I cannot change pastoral bad behaviors.

Good evening, Marilyn and thenami;

Both your posts caught my attention and led me to share my thoughts. Pastor Gary and Panda handle the stats and analysis at Christian Forum Site but I have observed "the seasons" here at CFS when more men posted in the threads and seasons when more women were more active.

I spend more time
off site in ministry and agree with Marilyn's statement and why she and her husband attend a solid Church that teaches sound doctrine.

This does not mean Churches as a community whole are exempt from their internal and in some cases blind circumstances. One neighborhood Church that I'm aware pays their lead Pastor up to 6 figures annually and this is disconcerting because the membership is only 8 1/2 years with a membership of almost 100. It's a fact but it's not my position to address them. I continue to pray for them and their Pastor, but I must get out of God's way as the issue is internal with their board. Former members who used to attend their annual financial meetings ended up leaving for a new Church. The Pastor lives somewhat the lifestyle as
thenami shared but soon he will be stepping down to retire.

This morning I led our weekly Bible study and our group began studying Galatians 1. Paul's 13 letters addresses the key issue for each Church and in Galatians Paul's biggest concern was the Gospel being mixed with
false teaching, or dual identity, and confused many of the new converts.

In my time given to serve at CFS is spent sharing, talking Jesus where I'm led as well as listen to views of other believers which is beneficial to me, personally. That's my choice.

I agree with both of you, and sadly, there is truth to thenami's post. This is why it's imperative to stay consistent in studying the Word. In God's time we develop wisdom, discernment to separate and disagree with false teaching. I'm delivering the sermon this Sunday. God help me should I sway from His leading to the Church family.

To echo Marilyn's bottom line, "They are like a ship with the rudder (false teaching) taking them off course. Our heading is Christ - His character and HIS purposes."

God bless you, both, and thank you for sharing.

Bob

I don't want to make a new thread... unless this takes off... so I think it sort of fits in here anyways.... because it's about church in a round about way.

I just saw a short little video where a Christian was ranting about the fact that in Nova Scotia... they have applied a NO GO zone into the woods/hiking/provincial parks/FIRE BAN due to the amount of fires that are burning. Could be fined up to 25,000. dollars if you are caught walking
on the trails until the fires are under CONTROL.

In my eyes.... THIS is a PRECAUTION. If you don't go in the woods... you can't START a FIRE. SIMPLE SIMPLE.... Just STAY out of the woods for a time.... NO big deal. THAT is how I see these things. but......... NOPE...... the video ( which I can't find... it's one of those SHORTS )... has declared that this is another apocalyptic SIGN of the TIMES.... we are being controlled and our rights have been taken away.... BLAH... BLAH... BLAH.... BLAH.

GOOD GRIEF.... This angers me... it DISGUSTS me because I don't believe this fear and negative NELLIE about every little inconvenience is appropriate.... ESPECIALLY for a CHRISTIAN.

Sorry guys... but I just don't see a lot of GOOD things happening with today's CHURCH.

I do not think what you have said is "harsh". I do however think it is short sighted and I do not say that to be confrontational in any way.

The idea of women not speaking in church actually comes from 1 Corinthians 14:31-34. From chapter 12 through 14, is all about "correction". Paul wrote it to correct the practice of "speaking in tongues" and how it was being sone out of order. Read verses 31-34 and you will see that Paul is giving instructions and says..."And you women are to remain silent in church" He is not saying women can not speak in church, but he is saying that women "Can Not Speak In Tongues" in church!

Second thing to note is that women in that say were not educated. They were not taught at all so therefore were unable to teach the men.

OK. Then as far as owning 2 cars or boats or motor bike or 2nd homes as the church seeing you not being humble, that is not Biblical.
I do understand what you are saying, however what happened to God blessing those who bless him and NO I am not a Word of Faith believer.

When we give to God and He blesses us, there is nothing wrong with owning those things. I agree that there are those pastors and members who DO NOT pay a tithe to God and own those things but the question then has to be if they are actually Christians at all.

The WoF/Prosperity/Kingnow Now/Nar all to me would fit under the same umbrella of biblical heresies trying to be shoved big time into local churches
I can think of several reason why I would look for another church.

1. False, un-biblical teaching.
2. Refusal to serve Communion on a regular basis.
3. The church ordaining a woman as a deacon/Pastor.
4. The preacher preaching a 2 hour sermon every Sunday.

Now, some will laff at #4. Thats OK to laff now, but you try doing it some time and see if it stays at #4!!!

Where it get really Overkill though is when word of faith fraud are collecting private jets and villas and many in their church collecting food stamps and welfare, NOT against those who need to rely upon those things, but think their leadership is really into "filthy Lucre"

Reminds me of hearing John MacArthur state that soon after Graduation, a Seminary classmate of his wanted to know if he was willing to preach at his church, as an opening for a pastor just came open now/ John and his wife traveled out there, and he went to preach and "let it rip" when done, the Elders and his friend came up and asked him to stay behind to be a pastor there, but suggested make his sermons shorter, as His sermon just preached was over 4 hours long
