Agreed! You are on a roll this morning.All Fundamentalists are Evangelicals, but not all Evangelicals are Fundamentists. The more liberal Evangelicals are not as conservative as the Fundamentalists.
2 main areas of differences have observed is that Fundy tend to practice separation between fellow believers much more strictly, and many tended to be into KJVOAll Fundamentalists are Evangelicals, but not all Evangelicals are Fundamentists. would be then like the saying while are reformed are Calvinists, not ALL Calvinists are also reformed?Agreed! You are on a roll this morning.
Many of the ones I know make that claim for themselves.would be then like the saying while are reformed are Calvinists, not ALL Calvinists are also reformed?
Seems that Fundy would look at trying to bridge between different groups within Christianity as not that important, as tend to flock together with just "like minded Christians?"All Fundamentalists are Evangelicals, but not all Evangelicals are Fundamentists. Fundamentalists do fellowship with like minded Christians who, along with them, hold to the fundamentals of the faith. They are careful to avoid liberal and worldly groups who conform to the values of their surrounding cultures. "Bridging gaps" smacks of ecumenism, and ecumenism is the first step toward apostasy.Seems that Fundy would look at trying to bridge between different groups within Christianity as not that important, as tend to flock together with just "like minded Christians?"
We can not bridge the gap between Biblical truth and worldly expectations.Seems that Fundy would look at trying to bridge between different groups within Christianity as not that important, as tend to flock together with just "like minded Christians?"
My experience has been though that they will work and fellowship with a narrow group of Christians who meet the standards, as while will fellowship with say fellow Baptists, they needed to be Kjvo or else strictly "not worldly" as they were defining itFundamentalists do fellowship with like minded Christians who, along with them, hold to the fundamentals of the faith. true, but sad when some in the body of Christ seem to force all to meet their own preferences and convictions before accepted as being "like minded"We can not bridge the gap between Biblical truth and worldly expectations.
I see no problem in that. If you don't care for Fundamentalists, you're not compelled to associate with them. The beauty of American democracy is that it provides people with freedom of association.My experience has been though that they will work and fellowship with a narrow group of Christians who meet the standards, as while will fellowship with say fellow Baptists, they needed to be Kjvo or else strictly "not worldly" as they were defining it

I kike them as brothers and sisters in Christ, but do think at times they tend to get borderline legalisticI see no problem in that. Think Many will be shocked to find out that there is no Baptist, Methodist, Presby sections of heaven, but just one where all of the redeemed praise and worship the LordThat is my experience as well.

That is true. I can only express sadness that the conservative independent Baptists continue to separate from each other over unimportant matters such as KJV only. IN times past, it used to be that independent Baptists separated themselves from other Christians over important doctrines, such as the virgin birth of Christ or the inspiration of the Scriptures or salvation in baptism. Today, the independents are separating, even among themselves, over issues such as Bible translations, music style, and dress.
Yes sir. You know that I am a Southern Baptist. That is not because we are better or smarter or special. I am one because of two thing......Good morning, YeshuaFan and Major;
There are some very good posts this morning around the forum. I came across your posts and wanted to share my thoughts.
After the Reformation and it's core doctrine, sola scriptura, other Protestant Churches formed. As YeshuaFan pointed out, it was to be One Church of Christ but differences in doctrine, moderate theology and attitudes led to the formation of denominations.
I have to be honest, from studying The Baptist Heritage, Four Centuries of Baptist Witness (H. Leon McBeth) revealed the Baptist Churches from the first American Baptist and Southern Baptist Convention in 1845 led to divisions and splits within to form other flavors of the Baptist Church, thus the Independent Baptists.
At times I wonder when a "shake-up" would come about with our Churches but seems an impossibility. Of course, all things are possible with our God but without ears to hear it does make it hard to come together as One.
Starting with myself, we are Southern Baptists and worship/serve at a Southern Baptist Church, but when I'm out in the community or abroad I don't wear Southern Baptist on my forehead but a man of God on my heart, of all Believers who follow Christ.
God bless everyone.
Bob
