Capitalism at its best! Eh?I already started selling Valentine's Day merch!
No, we see it as redeeming that night for the lord Jesus by putting Him back into it, just as we place Jesus back as reason for Christmas, even though to the world pretty much sSanta and parties nowThey're compromising with the world.
By same logic, no church should now be celebrating Christmas, as our culture pretty much now has'paganed it"how is to compressing the world around here they call it a fall festival
No, as we see it as bring Jesus into the culture and shine Him out during the worldly dark celebration on that dateIsn't a church that practices Halloween with an event such as a Fall Festival or a Trunk/Treat engaging in devil worship???
Isnt the recognition of Halloween as a day that the church has to do something to compete with halloween a sign of compromise to the world???No, as we see it as bring Jesus into the culture and shine Him out during the worldly dark celebration on that date
We have several stores here in central Fl. that open in around June solely with halloween items. Close in Nov. and do it all over again the next year.I went to Winner's yesterday with my niece and I was shocked to see how much Halloween merchandise they were selling... BASCIALLY... everything in the kitchen wares department was some kind of ghost or pumpkin.
We have a second hand store here called Value Village... and they go over the top with costumes and accessories.
What I am noticing is how the retail stores are starting earlier and earlier to put stuff out.
Follow the money!Capitalism at its best! Eh?
With both (my wife and I having a background in the 'dark side' before coming to Christ we'd just assume to stay clear of the day. I know it's nothing and kids will be kids, it's just a personal choice of conscience
true. NO Christian church should have a Christmas Tree. In fact....there is NO such thing as a Christmas tree.By same logic, no church should now be celebrating Christmas, as our culture pretty much now has'paganed it"
IT does. All Saints’ Day, in the Christian church, a day commemorating all the saints of the church, both known and unknown, who have attained heaven. It is celebrated on November 1 in the Western churches and on the first Sunday after Pentecost in the Eastern churches. In Roman Catholicism, the feast is usually a holy day of obligation. It is part of the three-day triduum dedicated to remembering the dead, beginning with Halloween (October 31) and followed by All Saints’ Day (November 1) and All Souls’ Day
(November 2).

Looks like Halloween (Oct 31) may have had R.C. origins.
Do you and your church believe 1 Peter 5:8.....No, as we see it as bring Jesus into the culture and shine Him out during the worldly dark celebration on that date
We see it as exposing the darkness of that day to the light of ChristDo you and your church believe 1 Peter 5:8.....
"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour."
2 Corth 11:14.......
"And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light."
Isaiah 8:19-20...........
"When someone tells you to consult mediums and spiritists, who whisper and mutter, should not a people inquire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?
20 Consult God’s instruction and the testimony of warning. If anyone does not speak according to this word, they have no light of dawn."
2 Corinthians 6:14-15
“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?”
Ephesians 5:11
“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.”
Deuteronomy 18:10-12
“There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you.”
Wouldn't that purpose be better served by having church members do reverse trick-or-treating by going door-to-door handing out gospel tracts focusing on the evils of Halloween? We see it as exposing the darkness of that day to the light of Christ
I played with fire when I was seven years old and the garbage compound adjacent to our backyard burned down, and my dad burned my behind that night when he got home. (ouch)IMHO....when you play with fire you will allways get burned.
so to understand you right christmas plays should not be allowed in Church...i wonder where in scripture does it tell us to avoid the Birth of Christ,,,how about christmas hymns ?By same logic, no church should now be celebrating Christmas, as our culture pretty much now has'paganed it"
lead the wayWouldn't that purpose be better served by having church members do reverse trick-or-treating by going door-to-door handing out gospel tracts focusing on the evils of Halloween?
Speaking of Christmas carols, this was the first to be played on a radio in 1906!how about christmas hymns ?
since your thinking for me explain using scripture thus saith the Lord allowing a child to have innocent fun .. no on second thought its not worth itThou doth protest too much methinks.
