HALLOWEEN!

Hi Bob
By saying I do not debate, I was meaning I would not be arguing if anyone disagreed with me. I Didn't even mention Major, or anyone else. I do not understand who I could have offended. I was stating my beliefs.
God Bless

Hello Cosia;

God bless you, and yes to all you stated. I've known you for some time and have never witnessed you arguing with anyone, but more of a person who diffuses confrontation in the forums.

I was referring to the whole membership in this topic in general, not indirectly to you or anyone else.

It's all good, sister. Be at peace.

Bob

I do not see the 'fun' of Satan's deceit. Who would want children to celebrate the skeletons, vampires, ghosts, and other things from the darkness.
It can give children nightmares.

I don't debate, just posting my belief about Halloween. Just as In Awe of Him and everyone else has.

We all have our beliefs
It doesn't matter who agrees or disagrees.

Please respect each other, and their right to have their belief.
And that is my point!!!! No debate was ever intended.

Actually, I really do not know how this topic can be debated. I posted it to get people to THINK! We all say we read the Bible. We all post scripture after Scripture to support our personal opinions. All I have done is to post what God has said about a topic.

Leviticus 19:31........
"Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God".

Leviticus 20:6.......
"I will set my face against anyone who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute themselves by following them, and I will cut them off from their people".

1 Samuel 15:23.......
"For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord, he has rejected you as king."

Galatians 5:19-21....
"The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God".

I wonder if there were other words that God could have used that we would accept better than those He used.

Im not a Halloween person... anymore. It was fun to dress up and give out ramen to the neighborhood kids. But, my oldest son, expressed that he really didn't like it... and it made me think and pray. It's been at least 5yrs now since we've participated in Halloween.
Im also not a fan of churches hosting, "harvest night" or "trunk or treat" because its just Halloween by another name in a church parking lot.
Also, I know some church groups celebrate Reformation day on October 31.

What "I" said was Christmas Trees should not be allowed in a Church. Christmas Trees are rooted in the ancient Pagan Druid religion.
I have heard this. And I've heard that Christmas Trees were a German Christian tradition and that Queen Victoria? Made it popularin Britain. I've heard so many things about Christmas Trees, I think we should let the Lord lead and each one honor his own convictions.

FYI, I refused to have a Christmas tree when me and my husband first got married... Christmas is my least favorite holiday and it wasn't until.my youngest was born and nearly 2ys old, that we got a tree. My husband purchased the biggest tree our home would allow.

Christmas has been commercialized to death. the meaning has been watered down and its no because of santa claus ..its the big shopping events
Exactly! I do t want to veer too far from the topic of Halloween but some traditions I added to make it less about gifts and more about Christ is celebrating advent with reading the scriptures and lighting the candles. And ON December 6, we celebrate St Nicholas day by learning about the real St. Nicholas and his generosity toward people.

That is completely up to you.

I never allowed a tree in the church for the reason that it had nothing whatsoever to do with the reason for Christmas. The one and only reason was the incarnation of Jesus.

We always placed a manger scene on the "Remembrance Table".

That is a good idea.

The key is the reason I made this thread........."it made me think and pray."

There is not another day in the year where a bunch of children can threaten you with "Trick or treat" and get away without being arrested for co-ersion or worse.
