AArrgghh. Bad news for these guys they are under God anyway!
 
He was the right to it. I don't know his exact reasoning. But I know many who feel very bad about the words in the song. My grandfather had told me that he was very angry when he first heard the Pledge sung with "under God" in it and learned that it was going to be said every time. If it gets removed I will definitely have no problem with it.

Are you serious? :eek::eek: They have tried to take God out of everything already. This is just giving satan more of a foothold in our society. I bet you they would leave the song alone if we said one nation under allah.
 
I don't think it was right to ever even add "under God" to it. Its only had "under God" in it for about half its lifetime. The pledge did not originally have the phrase in it and I don't think it should be in it.

Indeed. If this nation was a theocracy, there would be a LOT less problems.

Is there a problem with under God? Is it a problem to announce faith in God and that maybe God has had a hand in making this the greatest country in the world? I think we as Christians are getting our mindset more and more into secular society and letting them influence our thinking.
Do you also have a problem with having in God we trust printed on our currency?
 
I don't have think it should of been added to money either. I don't mind it really, but I also really wouldn't mind it being taken away. It doesn't matter.

There is nothing wrong with announcing your faith in God. But there is also nothing wrong with not doing it if you don't believe.

If these people do not feel like it should be there, let them make their case. We made ours in the 1950s and we got "under God" add. If people with different believes want to counter act that I believe they have the right.
 
But isn't it our job as Christians to try and bring others to the Lord. I know it may be far fetched but maybe having something as simple as under God in the pledge may get somebody thinking about it.

I simply cannot agree that the 1% of God haters should tell the rest of the country what to do. We will have to find something else to agree on brother.

THe only good thing about that is the ones who yell the loudest do believe in God. They may hate Him or be enraged by Him but if they did not believe they wouldn't care so much.

Indeed. Only people who hate God (ie: non christians) would want him out of the pledge.
 
I was always on the "Christian" side of this. Mostly because I figured it was an old tradition, and if people didn't like it, they are being over sensitive. But after checking on it, and finding out that it's only been a relatively recent thing, I don't know.

We aren't really a Godly nation, we aren't really trying to BE a Godly nation, so forcing people to lie, seems to be the opposite of what we are trying to accomplish. I don't like how history books are being re-written to keep religion out, and I don't like that 200 year old "decorations" are being removed from courthouses, but if printing "In God We Trust" on money is only something that has been done for 50 years, it's somewhat immaterial.

As for the pledge, I would like to see it kept, but I think there are much, MUCH bigger issues that need to be dealt with. Instead of attacking the symptoms of the problem, we need to focus on the root issues.
 
The history books you find in classrooms have little to do wiuth actual history and are being rewritten by the politically correct goon squads.
Does anyone know where political correctness started? In the USSR and enforced by the KGB.

How do you feel about the courthouse in Georgia (I think) having to remove the ten commandments from the front of their building? It just shows that we are being taken over by a secular society. It is allowing these atheistic or gnostic views to take over our society.
I don't feel "In God We Trust" is immaterial. It's only been done for 50 years? Big deal that's 18 more years than I've been around. And I think society as a whole was probably a lot better off then when this was printed on money then now when people are wanting to take it off. How many same sex marriages were around then. How many children grew up without a father? How many crack houses were operating near schools? I am just saying that look around at what is going on today. How long are we as Christians going to say oh well this wasn't actually one of Jesus' teachings so we'll let it go.

Yes...but is this the way to do it? Basically forcing people to lie? We need to deal with the problem, not just an "appearance of good". That's lukewarm Christianity IMO. Having a "form of Godliness", but no substance. What we NEED to do, is change the substance, then the appearance will take care of itself.

Actually, I mentioned that. That is a different situation. That is absolute silliness, even from a secular point of view. Only way to make that more offensive would be to attach pentagrams to the walls.

It's immaterial from the "tradition" point of view. Meaning, it doesn't go back to our forefathers, or to the intentions of our forefathers. It's SOLELY a Christian argument, simply because it hasn't been around long enough to be a classically American tradition. And...it's basically a lie.

Are you saying that America is MORE CHRISTIAN in the past 50 years that HAD the term on the money, than it was in the 150 years BEFORE it was? America has proven relentlessly that the term isn't true for us anymore. So taking it off will have no real effect.

I'm not saying to take it off at all. Please don't get me wrong. I'm really just saying, that my primary justification for staunchly defending this, was based on the idea that it's "always been this way" so why change it? Thing is, Christians need to realize, we don't rule America, or American laws. This may be needed as a wakeup call, so that we can step forward and do somethign about the PROBLEM...not the symptoms.
 
So Ban, how do you feel about my post? This country was founded on Judeo-Christian laws and values. This country was founded by men and women who looked to God for their rights, and the protection of those rights. This country was founded by men and women who appealed to God when MEN took their rights away, and who in the Name of God, declared their independence from such men. The lie is that this country was not founded on God. That is a lie. God had everything to do with this country. The forefathers knew that. We all knew that, until a bunch of hippies 40 some odd years ago decided it was cool when "anything goes". Now these same hippies have brainwashed our children. These same hippies are in political officies. Sad. In God We Trust on money? Absolutely, because that is where this country put it's trust when it was born. "One nation under God" in the pledge? Absolutely. Because our brilliant founding fathers knew that if we weren't one nation under God, then we would be one nation under tyranny. So what if it was added to the pledge later? It was written on the rock of this country at it's birth. I will not let that be taken away.
