Journal The Cabin

I am now witnessing the very public shaming of those in all sorts of positions who CHOSE to make "cruel" statements on social media regarding the situation which unfolded this week.
We are a wicked people. Moments like this bring clarity. Use this opportunity to pray, and to decrease our personal desires while growing our love and compassion. Those least deserving of love are those most in need of it.

I'm not saying your perfume is too strong.
I'm just saying the canary was alive before you got here.

Well.... Happy Wednesday morning my precious forum family.

Da Sheep has been busy these last weeks. I have enjoyed my summer more than I ever remember... largely due to the luxury of a most marvellous invention called a zero gravity lounge chair. ABSOLUTE game changer that thing has been.

I have also been getting out more and going to new places.... doing new things... which has led me to this morning.
I am going to work. A real work place... a real job... the beginning of training me for a position as associate for a boutique clothing store... walking distance from me. This is a very long story and a complete OXYMORON... however... this is how God works in my life.

Anyways... for today and tomorrow... I will be taking the lesson of steaming 101. I have three full racks of clothing to attend to... which is why the lady called me in to help. Apparently it's very soothing and relaxing and the store has lovely soft jazz music playing... so... as long as I don't burn myself... I should have a PhD in steaming by 4 pm tonight. HAHA.

God is growing me... in ways that I never ever thought possible.

If you read this today.... please take a moment to pray for me. The lady I am working for is also a Christian... and we have "hit it off" these last weeks. Da Sheep is going to have to be on her BEST behaviour ( as in acting a little more sophisticated than normal. HAHA )

I love you all.

Good morning, In Awe of Him;

So you're the one who got the job? I also applied at the same job (needed to get out of newsom territory for a spell) but the nice lady informed me that some sheep got the job. I went home dejected but to be honest I knew the nice lady wasn't pulling the wool over me.

Let's pray customers will see the
salt and light in you. Let us know how it goes.

God bless you, sister.

Bob was funny AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm exhausted.... I spent 7 hours steaming clothes... but I made it... and we had wonderful fellowship.
God is stretching me.
I am going back tomorrow and will probably be going back on Friday because there really is a lot of merchandise.
The good news is that this only happens in the Spring and the Fall.

I need to get something to eat... and then off to bed for this very tired little sheep.

In Awe;

Pray tell, when you wake up, how do you steam clothes? I would ask AI but want to hear from you.

Thank you!

Bob

I have a large clothes steamer, and the tank rests on the floor. The hose/handle part has a pole to rest on.
It gets very hot, so I have to be careful using it. I can steam wrinkles out of jeans, coats, and even gowns.
They are sold on Amazon. They also have small hand held ones.

1758185303851.png This is what I have.... It's nice and compact... fits in the corner and as thenami explained... the steam coming out of the handle ( which this picture does not show... but it is attached to the end of the black hose ) is very hot. Let me see if I can find a picture of the handle that goes ON the clothes.

1758185702569.pngGood grief!!!! There is a picture but the file is too big... so this is another one... It attaches to the main hose... and then you lightly pass it along the fabric. The steam takes out the wrinkles in the same way that ironing does but most people prefer this method as it really does well for large volumes of clothing that needs to be de-wrinkled. I first ever saw one of these in a boutique.

When clothes are purchased from a manufacturer... they usually arrive to the stores in separate bags... all folded up. This is ok for Walmart and such but the boutique stores are different in that DISPLAY is their key to sales. Their clothes look good on the rack.... and it adds to the ambiance of the store... which is also often decorated with pieces of home decor... jewellery... purses... etc.

This store is unique in that there is absolutely NO degree of snobbishness.... The lady who owns the store is a Christian woman... and she is lovely to absolutely EVERY customer that walks in.

She has a great gift of seeing BEAUTY... and it really is a lovely environment. Colours can be therapeutic... I never knew that.

Anyways.... another day.... another rack ... HAHA... and by tonight... I should be graduating with honours in the steaming department. This for me... is truly the BEST way to LEARN. I am now already confident using the steamer... and the hands on part of training is wonderful... plus.... I am going in as a VOLUNTEER.... so.... my "help" is not under pressure to "perform" and that is purposely my doing. I made it clear that I can only learn if I can have the extra time to ABSORB the information.

Once I am finished with the steaming... I am going to come into the store once or twice a week to SHADOW the owner so that I can learn... take notes on things... and I will be able to become acquainted with the merchandise.

Way too much information but .... I typed it now so it stays. HAHAHAHA.

I got a good grade yesterday for tenacity... and for my ability to make it through a whole DAY with a smile on my face. HA.

Have a beautiful day EVERYONE..... DA sheep is having fun and learning new things.

Good morning, thenami and In Awe;

I learned something new. I also didn't know people own steam cleaners in their homes.

I now understand when a new line of clothes arrives in bundles it makes sense to separate and steam clean before displaying in boutiques and specialty stores.

God bless you both.

Bob

Good morning my beautiful forum family,

Well... It has been quite the week for me. A very different kind of week and a nice kind of week... learning new things.

I am back at it today for one last shift of steaming. I will take the week-end off... and then I go back on Tuesday and will keep going back until I am finished all the steaming. I am anticipating that this will take till the end of next week. I am getting a bit faster... but this job is a slow one.

It has been very amazing to me that after NOT working for a great many years... I have actually been able to keep up and pull off two full 7 hour days. The store is open from 10 am to 5 pm and they close on time... So... once I get this huge load of steaming done.... over the next months... I will be called in occasionally for a training day... until I get fully trained. I plan on coming in on my own time... simply to observe and learn the ins and outs of RETAIL.

OH... and yesterday... I learned how to change out a mannequin.... which was WAY COOL.

God has a sense of humour indeed... If y'all knew what an oxymoron it is for me to be working at a boutique store.
It's kind of like putting a bull in a China Shop... except in my instance.... it just seems to work in a strange way.

I also have been given a new job here within the forums... and that is the job that I care about most. I asked if I could serve to HELP the staff... and my request was granted. It is in my heart to lighten the load of the staff that are active so as to help alleviate any pressure. I am absolutely delighted to serve in this capacity... and I trust that this will not change how people feel towards me.

~ Love.... DA SHEEP

I scream... you scream... we all scream for ICE CREAM.

I love ice cream. It is the perfect sweet treat.
thenami THANK YOU so much for bringing up the topic because I have been so very busy this week and my brain is working on reduced "cells". HA.

I cannot believe it took so long to talk about this marvellous and sublime treat... here at the CABIN!!!

Here in Ontario... I have submitted pictures of our available brands of ice-cream. The bigger cities have more selection and we have many "creameries" scattered in the southern part of the province that do the "small batch" thing.

The Chapmans brand of "Moose Tracks" is called "Moose Trail"... but the rest honour the sacred HOOF of the MOOSE. HAHAHAHA

I am an ice-cream

S imply the best am an ice-cream
N othing else will do
O thers do NOT compare
B ob... I supplied you with the acronym ( You're welcome )🆒

With the above confession made.... The only ice-cream I will eat is Haagen Dazs... and only when it comes on sale.
My favourite flavour is dulce de leche. There are NO words for this experience.

Because my brain is not working due to being tired and a bit overwhelmed with all the changes in my life.... This topic should be a fun one for the CABIN.

I am declaring this week to be......
All things Ice-Cream! Nothing like waiting for sweater weather to start talking about this. HAHAHAHA.

I love you all.... OH how I love you all.

Mr. Moose.... YOU are probably busy... but I just wanted you to know that I am missing you. I hope you have not become possessed by an owl. I would let you in the Cabin regardless... and just hire an exterminator to keep an eye on you. Just sayin.
