he was middle age it was his reaction to me being general baptist. it didn't bother me i was fairly new to the ministry.. But my aunt sure was proud of me . probably one of the worst things was hurt was over the foot washing statement i made.. my whole point is Man thinks he knows what is best for the church...

there was a time in history from the little town i was raised in.. the area Churches use to take turns once a month meeting at each others Church. i was not around if i was i to young to realize, my cousin told me it stopped when another pastor raised a issue from it.

i want the members of this forum to understand one thing about me.. your name over the church door does not impress me.. you mention the various baptist they are more than a batch of seed ticks.. its silly to worship the name..... How soon we forget there is ONE Lord One Faith ONE Baptism that work in and through all. yes that includes the charismatic .. i know general baptist who feel the southern baptist are all wrong.. most all my t.v ministers i listen to are southern baptist the now pastor at atlanta first baptist i enjoy charles stanley Adrian Rogers and david Jeremiah. along with jay vernon mcgee . who is Presbyterian and calvinist..
what impresses me is what they preach and teach in fact a guy i went to school with is a ASOG pastor he has a nephew in texas ASOG .. ya all hold on this nephew and school mate both has preached in a gen baptist Church..


listening to them you couldn't tell they was asog except they mentioned their church. Bob you know how i feel we have talked . i seldom budge

sounds about right sounds like they forgot the scripture come let us reason together i wont bring the name up.. but there is one branch of baptist. they almost sound like they are the supreme doctrine.

I'm not really proud of the evolving history of the denom but have learned how it's history shaped the things to come in the Church.

Why would the preacher you mentioned, assuming he is an elderly man, make that kind of statement to you? I still officiate funerals today for all peoples. Families need that time to remember and grieve their loved ones, and I serve to deliver the hope of Jesus.

I do agree with you. We have the same Jesus. Doesn't everyone have that opportunity? If anyone gathering asks you to share the Good News, then by all means.

Yes, I have even presided at a Roman Catholic's funeral. That was an experience!

Now, when any denomination chooses to ignore Scriptures and do what they want to do, do they in fact have the "same" Jesus???

Can we say that about the 7th Day Advan. or the Mormons or the JW'S??? What about the Catholics???? Word of Faith. Do WE all have the same Jesus???

All of the above claim to be Christians.

7 Day Advant. teach that Jesus is the Angel Michael.
Mormons teach that Jesus is a created being.
JW'S teach that Jesus is Lucifers brother and is Michael the angel.
Catholics believe that Mary is the co-redeemer of men.
Word of Faith Pentecostal teach that Jesus is Santa Claus and He will do anything we demand Him to do.

Personally.....I think we have gotten to the point in life where we must face reality!

Just because someone or some denomination uses the name of Jesus does not in any way mean that they know Jesus.
Remember....even the demons know who Jesus is according to James 2:19.....
" You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe — and shudder!"
It is not enough to simply agree to certain facts about God. It is not enough to claim to be a believer. I am well aware that this will cause some friction.

So be it. James's point is clear as a bell in that it is not enough to just talk about Jesus. That puts those who talk about God, but fail to act in ways consistent with that belief, in the same category as demons. It means knowing, but not trusting. It means "dead faith," rather than "saving faith." The danger of this condition is that a self-assured "religious" person can spend their entire lives in simple agreement without ever crossing over into true and living faith and practice denominational falsehoods and go to hell.

God said......."prophecies, tongues, and knowledge, “will cease” or “pass away," when the PERFECT comes.

There are only TWO perfect things that fit that statement in existance.
1. The Lord Jesus Christ who had already come to the earth when Paul wrote his words.
2. The completed Word of God as found when the New Test. was canonized.

there are exceptions on the same jesus.. were not to be so open minded our brain falls out.. however just because a denoms choses to use tongues does not make them not a Christian

this puts lots of Church folks in all denoms in danger. people place more emphasis on the name baptist methodist pentc. etc if Gma and gpa and mom and dad was baptist then i am baptist .. gma gpa believed so do i . if i go back to living in sin after salvation, no change odds are no salvation .. but wait my church teaches iam still saved.. that's my point.. yes friction will come from this .. were quick to point out what is not scripture.. but often in denoms fail to point the sin that is at hand

There is NO such thing as someone with the "gift" of healing... or the gift of "prophesy" in this modern age. That is my opinion. I'm not sure what that makes me.... but we are RICHLY blessed on a DAILY BASIS with many GIFTS from God. Just go for a walk and look around.

The real Christian and real Christian churches will have the biblical Jesus and the real Gospel, and all of those groups you listed here fail both major tests

Think he is stating that the gift of prophecy today would not be person spoking forth from and for God directly, but thru the preaging of the bible
