1 Kings 1:38-40

1 Kings 1:38-40King James Version (KJV)
38 So Zadok the priest, and Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, went down, and caused Solomon to ride upon king David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.
39 And Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and anointed Solomon. And they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, God save king Solomon.
40 And all the people came up after him, and the people piped with pipes, and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth rent with the sound of them.
American English Bible
38 So SaDoc the Priest, Nathan the Prophet, BenaiJah (the son of JehoiAda), and the Cherethites and Phelethites went and mounted Solomon on King David's mule, and led him away to GiOn. 39 Then SaDoc took the horn of oil from the Sacred Tent, anointed Solomon with it and blew the trumpets, as all the people started shouting, '[Long] live King Solomon!' 40 And thereafter, so many people came to him dancing and singing in joy that the ground literally shook with the sounds of their voices.

38 This would be important when Christ rode on a donkey thru the city of Jerusalem. This was done to show Solomon as the next king the one who was chosen, this was done after David’s death there may have been a further fight for the throne but now they should not be because Solomon was anointed as the next king. Gihon was a city where priests lived.
39 This made it official, David’s son tried to take his throne by power without God but David would give his throne to Solomon by God allowing him to do so and it being His will. Solomon’s reign would not start until David’s death.
40 They celebrated the next king, the people were behind Solomon, David’s other son would tried to take the throne would have no hope of trying to get the throne after David’s death. They followed David’s decision because it was God’s will.
