1 Kings 2:34-35

1 Kings 2:34-35 King James Version (KJV)
34 So Benaiah the son of Jehoiada went up, and fell upon him, and slew him: and he was buried in his own house in the wilderness.
35 And the king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his room over the host: and Zadok the priest did the king put in the room of Abiathar.

An American English Bible
With Old Testament based on the Greek Septuagint

34 So BenaiJah (the son of JehoiAda) went back and killed him, and then he turned his house in the desert into his tomb.
35 Thereafter, the king appointed BenaiJah (the son of JehoiAda) to be the commander-in-chief of his army, and his kingship became firm in JeruSalem. As for SaDoc the Priest; the king appointed him as the High Priest in place of AbiAthar.
So Solomon (the son of David) reigned over IsraEl and Judah from JeruSalem, and Jehovah gave Solomon as much wisdom, understanding, and greatness of heart as there is sand at the seashore. For the wisdom of Solomon was greater than that of all the ancient peoples, and it was far greater than the wise men of Egypt.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

34 The man was killed as the king ordered, he was buried in his home which was not a common place of burial at that time but may have been done because he was not worthy to be buried with other high priests also he was the last of his family so his house would have no longer been used.

35 Solomon replaces the positions of the army his duty as king but he also replaces the religious leaders not really a duty for the king and kingly control over the priests would later become a big problem.
