Global Religion: Global Partnerships. (3) Churches.

`…in the last days….men will…(be) having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!` (2 Tim. 3: 1 & 5)

The infrastructure of church organizations throughout society is ideal for spreading the message of the United Nations. The `Earth Charter`s` message of `changed minds and hearts` has a `form of godliness` but denies the power of Jesus and His sacrifice for us.

Today thousands of organizations including Christian are adopting and implementing the Earth Charter with the SDG`s (Goals). Let’s look at how this is being worked out in the Churches.

Goal 16: Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies.

People should be free of fear from all forms of violence and feel safe as they go about their lives whatever their ethnicity, faith or sexual orientation. `

In relation to `ethnicity ` UNESCO has made a Declaration on Cultural Diversity with an action plan for its implementation. Member states commit themselves to taking appropriate steps to disseminate widely this declaration and to encourage its effective application.

This is done through formulating policies for the preservation and enhancement of the cultural and natural heritage, the oral and intangible cultural heritage…

In Australia the ACC (Australian Christian Churches) are implementing the `Indigenous Initiative. ` This has the vision of `seeking to communicate and better understand the Aboriginal and Torres strait culture`

This requires the people in the Churches `Acknowledgement of the traditional Custodians of the land,` and to commit to work in partnership with local Aboriginal people to protect the land and the physical traces of Aboriginal culture and history.

The congregation is to also display Aboriginal flags, artwork and to celebrate the annual event of First Nations Culture celebration.

God`s word says –

`Learn not the way of the heathen for the customs (cultures) of the people are vain.` (Jer. 10: 2 & 3)

The Indigenous Culture in Australia (as other places) is earth centered reverencing `country, ancestors and rituals. `

Embracing this `culture` brings believers under evil spirits who rule in that area.
