A little bit of grit

A little bit of grit

A little bit of grit in my shoe
Brought me down,
Tried to ignore it
Do a Mexican shuffle
Tap my heel on the ground
Shake my foot violently
To move it to the side
But as soon as I started to walk again
This little stone now grown in to a rock
worked its way back to the centre of my soul

I just haven’t got time to deal with this, right now
Tried to ignore it, forget it
But it feels like a boulder
Piercing my soul
Just how can such a small thing affect the way I walk?
disrupt my equilibrium
Bring me down?
Can’t concentrate
That little stone
That little irritation has taken control
til…
Father came and sat me down
Took off my shoe and sock
Turned my shoe over, tapped it on the ground
Placed His hand inside it made sure the stone had gone
Rubbed my sock thoroughly
Making sure no stone was clinging on…
He then held my foot to smooth away
the discomfort, the pain,
And just like that it was gone,
Made whole again!

Lesson learnt from Father
If it happens again…
Don’t struggle on with that piece of gravel, that little stone in your shoe
Sit down, address the problem
So that little bit of gravel won’t take control,
Father’s always there to comfort smooth away the pain…
Or do you prefer to struggle on in martyrdom
And just complain…

Just a thought?
