Amy Grant recently admitted she has a "love-hate relationship" with some sections of God's word.

I have watched this thread.... and have not said anything... but this statement arouses anger within me. Not the statement but the truth of it.
I know I am Canadian.... I know that I do not understand diddly squat about politics... .however.... I have heard this man speak... He has been gentle... collected... calm and has verbalized a PEACEFUL transfer of power. I am taken by EVERYTHING that has transpired over these last years.... and I am saddened beyond sad at the reality of the BRUTALITY with which we as Christians have fed into. We seem to make excuses for things that are inexcusable with the phrase.... well... he's not perfect. Honestly... I think it is the hypocrisy that gets me the most.
I just needed to say that. No offence meant.

Hello In Awe of Him;

No worries and no offense taken, sister. You've been here over a year now and are only sharing your views and prayer. I feel the Lord has pruned His tree of combativeness at CFS and we are enjoying a peaceful season and time here.

I'm looking forward to this year's Holiday with you all and good fellowship.

By the by, you reminded me of Christmas 1995 when Hazel and I stayed with friends in Burnaby, British Columbia. She gave me a cross necklace and have only taken it off 5 times in 29 years.

God bless you and thank you for sharing.

Bob

This is truth
I might as well state what I did. I was a Gun Lobbyist.
I had death threats for years, and for years after I stopped.
I actually did nothing to anyone, just tried to find a balance of how we
could get along. I thought I could bring a calm to a very hostile place.
My wife says I must have done well. When I stopped doing it. Both sides we mad at me.
I conceal carry each day just about everywhere I go.
I have sat and had peaceful meeting and coffee with those who opposed my ideas.
There is zero reason we need to be mean and rude to each other.
I am bothered by arrogance, far more then I ever will be about a different opinion.

Yet making the above statement is met with judgment, preconceived from society not whom I am.
Biden I felt sorry for, I think he was manipulated by both sides.
But I tell my kids. Biden served this country like all the ones before that were President.
My issue has always been, you respect the office the man/woman holds regardless how you feel.
I do not see that having happen for a very long time. And that bothers me.

Biden I felt sorry for, I think he was manipulated by both sides.
he was a puppet on a string Obama and his cronies was the puppet masters .... ok so much for that rabbit trail .. as per amy Grant i seldom listen to her many gospel singers have made bone head statements some have went off course Ray boltz turned gay kirk talley once announced he was gay.. his wife divorced him , he took Godly counsel i think he is back on course i really dont know.. but amy statement has harmed her ministry . the Bible says ALL scripture

2 Timothy 3:16

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”

granted parts of the o.t makes me scratch my head . especially when they destroyed every living soul .. but she questioned

{"Mostly, what I want to hear about is Jesus, and then He says stuff that scares the ever-living daylights out of me. Like today. What I read today was about if a woman’s divorced — and I’m like, ‘Jesus, even you said it. You didn’t talk about very many things. But why did You talk about divorce? People are so ugly to each other. Why did you say divorce?' And then I find myself fighting with Him. … Clearly, we all need help.") granted divorce is not the end of the world. most of it depends on the cause and if the one at fault gets remarried so often we hear judge not lest ye be judged .

she should have clarified when in the ministry your in the public eye and ears who would want to listen to a preacher say divorce is ok ..i question the o.t. say king David and Bathsheba yet he was a man after God own heart . lets say Samson martyred himself in other words he committed suicide death and life are in the power of the tongue she represents the ministry .. aka God

Prim,

I did not intend it to be a comparison between Thomas Jefferson and Amy Grant, it was to show that no matter how much one disagrees with the word of God they do not change who He is. It is we, who need to adjust ourselves to align with God. We all have struggles and often wander from the path, but God is always willing to guide us back on track if we will let Him.
Dave I fail to see the comparison considering that Amy never even hinted at deleting passages of the scriptures that she struggled with. Unlike the full blown heretic Mr Jefferson who did exactly that. As to our daily struggles and of our habitual habit of being sheepys that do like to wander from the flock from time to time. You do say ( God is always willling to guide us back on track IF WE WILL LET HIM ) ???. Dave Perhaps our theological outlooks be some different in that respect. I would say to this . That my sheep hear my voice in John 10 I shall continue to enjoy the sweet scent of the tulip 🌷 IMG_9357.jpegIMG_9356.jpeg

Good morning, Prim90;

I'm always intrigued by your views especially when you put the big pink blocks in between your paragraphs. lol!

I don't see Amy getting a work out here. I agree with forgiven, we aren't making a judgement call on her salvation. Truth is Amy is a world wide celebratory and when she quotes something, all four corners of the earth is going to hear about it.

I use to struggle with the Paulines. I had a personal issue in my study of Paul. I felt he was arrogant. But that was the days of being a novice Bible study student. As I continued to study the Word I began to understand what Christ used him for, to preach the Gospel to the Romans, Ephesians, Corinthians (tough crowd,) Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Thessalonians, etc...Paul also mentored Timothy and Titus and they became anointed Pastors.

The bigger picture is God is a God of order, and His Word represents His order. Paul referenced the Old Testament in his letters that reveal the prophecies of Jewish Scripture tied to Christ fulfilling the promises that we are given.

Amy, just like all of us is given a new day (miracle) by God and has an opportunity to be changed by Him.

I understand why you mentioned Thomas Jefferson tearing pages of Scripture out of the Bible. I know he had issues with Jesus' teachings and attempted to publish his own version of the Jefferson Bible.

Jefferson was a Christian. He accomplished great feats in government but as a leader he was not open to solid, truthful discipleship and later developed his own doctrine. As he got older his Christian views, beliefs in God and His only Begotten Son were all over the place.

Again, Prim90, I'm not disagreeing with you because you always present your posts well, I'm just receiving your view and responding to it.

God bless you, sister.

Bob
Bob you not regard Amy receiving a good work over from you and others. Only in the context of her being of world celebrity status as mentioned by Forgiven in what she speaks as an ambassador for Christianity. Just what did say that was bad ??? Only that some passages of scripture have troubled her very much at times in her life. Yet the negativity implied upon that is rather over the top by some. IMG_4094.jpeg. Perhaps if Amy had pronounced to the world that Mr Jefferson was a Christian man. Well it be read all about in the next Christian forums post tomorrow. But no it was one of our very own that claimed that . The one and only Bobfaith : ) . You did make me spill yogurt over my blouse today. I was so in much shock upon reading your statement at morning tea . Bob Thomas Jefferson was a full blown heretic he was never a Christian. Not only did he take it upon himself to re-edit the Bible . He also denied the Christian Trinity and not only that he denied the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ. He saw Christ as merely a great teacher. He was of the enlightenment breed . A Deist from memory. Here are some quotes from the Mr Jefferson. I do declare Amy be rather squeaky clean when compared the many heresies of Mr Jefferson . Your pinky Prim does await your thoughts on that ❤️. IMG_9350.jpegIMG_9343.jpegIMG_9338.jpeg

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA and still HAHAHAHAHAHA.... oh my goodness.... Prim.... you are not usually FUNNY.... and so when someone who is not usually funny is FUNNY.... then oh my goodness.... my soul rises up with a good belly laugh.

That BAD Bob... making the lady spill yogurt on her blouse... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... oh my goodness... after my snarky post.... which Dear Bob accepted as simply me sharing my opinion.... THIS was a breath of fresh air.

Please note..... THIS is how a civilized conversation is conducted... different views.... different perspectives and EVERYONE is heard and respected.
Another GOLD STAR for the forums. Just saying.

I don't doubt that he was influenced.
But my job is to bring people to Christ, not judge them because they have not.
That is Gods job not my own.
I have met with many whom oppose God, and his will. They want me to hate and judge them because of how they live.
Because that then would allow them to show how intolerant Christians are. Being at war, does not always destroying the enemy.
Matthew 5:9:
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
Jesus highlights the virtue of making peace rather than engaging in prolonged conflict or destruction.

Matthew 5:43-44 (Sermon on the Mount):
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
This teaching challenges the idea of outright destruction of enemies, advocating for love and prayer instead.

But it has gone way off topic and down some rabbit holes. It is no longer a constructive and edifying discussion, disappointing, imo
Markus

Good morning, Prim90;

If anyone chooses to label a discussion as a "rabbit hole," "subcontextual," or "disrespectful," and then post by dismissing this discussion such as the ones describe, then I encourage the posters to quietly withdraw from the topic.

There are plenty of other good topics at CFS where we can uplift one another.

We monitor every post and if there aren't any compromises to the forum rules then the discussion remains open for members to share their point of view.

Regarding Amy Grant and Thomas Jefferson they're both from my own backyard (country) where I grew up. Personally, I never followed Amy as a music lover. I don't even know the name of her first song written back in 1976 or after.

Amy Grant is in fact a successful celebrity and has announced her faith publicly, praise God! but has also voiced her beliefs and opinions. That comes with being a successful celebrity. Whether rumor or fact, the whole world hears about it.

We have prayed for Amy Grant who will be 64 this month. She has had serious health issues despite her dispositional views both ways with Christ (which she has made public.)

Thomas Jefferson was a founding father of the United States. He was responsible for the Declaration of Independence and our country's 3rd President. These are all huge feats. As a boy Jefferson was a Christian and baptized. As an adult he had issues with Jesus' teachings and attempted to publish his own book, the Jefferson Bible, but was never published. I studied Jefferson while in high school (while having other things on my mind) but was more open to his history text at seminary.

forgiven authored this thread and has done a good job with the point he was making. The direction it went happens. Question is, how do we receive and conduct ourselves toward each other, the topic and all peoples?

I read in this topic a couple of tidbits regarding our current President Biden. I confess I would never have the courage to take on the hardest job in the United States. Whether I agreed / disagreed with his administration the last 4 years, my wife and I still pray for Joe, Jill and his family.

In the meantime, I don't feel anyone made any condemning, disparaging remarks regarding either of these people.

I hope this helps a little, Prim90.

God bless you and your family.

Bob

you brought up Jefferson quotes

here is one ---> Thomas Jefferson

SIGNER OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE; DIPLOMAT; GOVERNOR OF VIRGINIA; SECRETARY OF STATE;
THIRD PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

The doctrines of Jesus are simple, and tend all to the happiness of man.63

The practice of morality being necessary for the well being of society, He [God] has taken care to impress its precepts so indelibly on our hearts that they shall not be effaced by the subtleties of our brain. We all agree in the obligation of the moral principles of Jesus and nowhere will they be found delivered in greater purity than in His discourses.64

I am a Christian in the only sense in which He wished anyone to be: sincerely attached to His doctrines in preference to all others.65

I am a real Christian – that is to say, a disciple of the doctrines of Jesus Christ.

i have read before he was a deities was he truly saved ? truly a Christian ? we dont know it is him that will have to give account for him at the judgment seat. but see my O.P had nothing to do with Him. it was a statement from Amy grant

btw this is my source on the quote from Jefferson https://wallbuilders.com/resource/the-founding-fathers-on-jesus-christianity-and-the-bible/

Forgiven yes Mr Jefferson did state a lot of things but since when has our morality ever given anyone eternal life ? It is all because of Christ and through his blood that we have eternal life. And yes he did claim to be Christian IMG_9348.jpeg. That be in name only as far I’m concerned. More so for those who claim to be Christians and then blatantly deny the trinity and also deny the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus along with miracles within our Holy writ. We can disagree with many doctrines within the Bible. But some like the trinity and the resurrection of Jesus Christ are essential and central to the whole meaning of our Christian faith. As mentioned in 1st Corinthians. IMG_9364.jpeg. You say we don’t know if he was Christian or not. Forgiven it is abundantly clear what scripture says IMG_9340.jpeg. My statements from my post 25 clearly meet the criteria of Mr Jefferson being a full blown heritic. He never does did change his views as mentioned cfrom post 25. As to your post solely referring to Amy and so it did. The matter of Mr Jefferson was brought up by another poster and flowed from there. You seem to place a great deal of importance upon Tomas Jefferson being a president of the United States. He does get the full respect that the office office grants him in that regard. But that still doesn’t absolve him from being a full heretic.

Bob some of Amy’s music is much beautiful and uplifting. One such song I liked very much was called El Shaddia. I did discover some years ago along with other ancient singers such as Keith Green and Don Francisco. I sure they ups and downs but despite that they have left a wonderful reflection of praise and worship to the God and blessed us in future generations. IMG_4094.jpeg. As to the tit bits of politics you mentioned it’s always a difficult proposition in evaluating when to discuss and when to not . Hyena’s to the left and wolves to the right I generally have my say election day unless I am pushed on the matter or it’s of historical and biblical importance.. Bob God bless yours Prim wishing you all a nice evening in your part of the world ❤️
