An ode to age

Put out to grass? … not me

An ode to age

They tried to tell me it’s time Time to cheer from the grandstand
Watch the next generation run the race?
To hand on the Batton
To the next relay runner
To run the next leg of the race?

I remember when ‘Youth Praise’ was the new black
And the psalmists new song
Was ‘singing the faith’
Ive had to change slim fit,
for slim fast
There’s more girth nowadays.
Life’s gotten so much faster
Or is it me slowing down?
used to do church three times on a Sunday ,
But church, it’s one long marathon now…
Me retire?
Put out to grass
Plonked on the sidelines,
Qualifying for senior service
Now I’ve reached a certain age?

No chance,

Not me!

I’m going to grow old disgracefully!
Not sitting in Gods waiting room waiting my turn,
I want to arrive at the gates of heaven
Throughly used up
Hair all akimbo
Skidding broadside
Thanking God for one hell of a ride!
There may be snow on the roof top,
the thatch has gotten thin and worn, and
but there’s still fire in my soul,
There’s still life in the old dog yet!
Never too old
Me retire
Be put out to grass?

No chance

you’ll be lucky

Not too old
Like Adam, Noah, Isiah, Daniel, Sarah…
Not to mention Enoch!
I said don’t mention Enoch
Thats for another time!
But I’m not ready to push up daisies
I’m not done yet!
Heaven can wait
“While making our plans, and the LORD determines our steps.”
TIL Gods commission
here on earth is complete,
Til I’m stood at heaven’s gates,
Hearing my Saviours ‘well done’

That’ll do me!
