Anyone who does not provide...

Anyone who does not provide...

1 Timothy 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

Does this also apply to a woman or wife even if husband is still alive? Please give me clear understanding. Thanks.

When Paul wrote those words, he was very specific.
Let's look at the wording in the King James Version so we can use a Strong's Concordance to find original word meanings...

1 Timothy 5:8 (KJV), "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

The word "ANY" in the Greek language that Paul wrote in means just that - ANY person, not just a male head of the household. The Chapter 1 Timothy 5 is subtitled, "Advice about widows, elders and slaves." The recommendations and admonitions from Paul in that Chapter deal with those groups specifically mentioned in the subtitle. Read the entire Chapter 5, rather than just taking one line out of context, and you will have a better understanding of Paul's message.

How many politicians and lawmakers have given us false promises to fix the nations social security crisis, medicare, welfare, social services to unwed mothers and abandoned children. And on and on and on.

I pray people will stop seeking man for the answers and follow Gods plan.

He had these problems solved for us long ago, and gave us His holy solution.

Some just refuse to see.
