I think something like this speaks to the insecurity certain atheists, these particular atheists bringing this demand, have living in a world populated by theists.
A secular invocation? They condemn religious rights, rites, and rituals, and then hope to mimic them when the religious have their rights upheld by the courts they petitioned to rule against them.
What would an atheist hope to invoke? Nothing!
