Australia to implement mandatory internet censorship

Even though I agree with the idea of this ...there will always be a way around it...and any good cracker (bad version of hacker) could bypass it in a moment.

When it comes to fighting terrorism I am of the opinion that governments should spend their time and resources watching the bad guys and stay out of my personal freedoms. The question is are the people willing to eventually give up all their freedoms for security? I believe the anti-Christ will use such technology to control the populations.
That is not to say that it does not contain good- who doesn't want to get rid of kiddie porn, etc. I simply believe it can be done in a less invasive way. If you study history many of the things Hitler put in place and later used to take power seemed logical and good on the surface.
A friend of mine once said this " I love my country, it is my government I do not necessarily trust".

Yes I can agree with that.:)

tactics to revoke your freedom.christians don,t need to be watched,maybe people should get better with Jesus,then there would be no problem.

One of the E.U.'s objectives is to get rid of religion, as anyone with a lock on truth poses a threat. Things always have a candy shell and a rotten core. Gov't censorship? Watch out.

Yea, the government wants to dictate as much of your life as possible and people who believe in God and thus believe that freedom and liberty come from God and not government are a threat to some.

They want to impliment a massive spy database thing in the UK too, to monitor phone calls, emails, internet activity ect.
Next thing, they will want to read out post, and watch everything that we do and everywhere we go, (they have already started that one). :(

I have very mixed feelings about this.

When we post things on the Internet, we need to remember that this is a public domain and it is Global. If the government want's to sit up and read my posts, then I don't have a problem with that.

Likewise, if someone is communicating with people in a terrorist nation, via e-mail or telephone, or snail mail, I want our government to keep an eye on what they are talking about.

If you're not doing anything wrong, then you have nothing to worry about.

The problem I have with this is where do we draw the line?
Can the police come into my house anytime they want? Or pull me over and search my car just in case?
As Bo said, at first, many people saw the SS as a pretty good idea.

The problem is that once you give up a right, any right, it is all but impossible to ever get it back.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jewshttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jews,
I remained silent;
I was not a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.
