Characteristics of an Excellent Spirit

Characteristics of an Excellent Spirit

Daniel 6:3Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

Daniel 5:12Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation

Daniel always acted with integrity in all he did and we are to do the same. He was honorable in all his ways and had admirable qualities in character

Those who have developed in character will excel in Godly values. They will live by God’s principles and will not say one thing but do another. They will seek the Lord about what He wants and will do and say what the Lord tells them as they are led, daily walking in the Spirit .

Proverbs 17:27He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.

Those who have an excellent spirit are very fruitful. They excel above the average Christians who seem to be more concerned about the things of this world than pleasing our Father. The fruit of the Spirit it easily seen by all, even outside the church.

2Peter 1:2Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.

Those of an excellent spirit will hold to a higher standard than the world and even many in the church. It seems the church has lowered its standards drastically. We are to be an example of our Lord Jesus Christ in a way that attracts people to Him.

Philippians 1:10That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.

Excellent study . Thanks ... Yes we must be the sweet aroma that Christ desires of us so that people will see Jesus in us .

Numbers 13:30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

Numbers 14:24 But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

Those who excel in God have a different spirit about them. Caleb had godly qualities all of us should have.

1 Caleb believed what God said no matter what the circumstances looked like. If God said it, then it was so.

2 He was bold enough to stand up against all of Israel and was not pressured or persuaded by them, but proclaimed the truth that what God said they could do was possible. Only Joshua agreed with him.

3 Caleb didn’t complain, or talk doubt and unbelief like the rest but spoke words of faith.

4 He agreed with God, saying the same thing He said, that they could take the land.

5 He didn’t let the threat of giants frighten him at all, but knew God was much bigger than any giant he had to face.

6 He didn’t go along with the group, which is always the easy way.

7 He could see beyond the circumstances and see the victory ahead.

Exactly .Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7 :20 ..... Now here is the place in the Bible where it says fruits and that is where I get confused . In this aspect , I suppose it would mean by their actions . If they are really Christians , their " Fruits " will demonstrate that they are a true followers of Jesus Christ.

If there has truly been a change within and they are born again, that change will eventually begin to show outwardly as they develop in the fruits of the Spirit. Fruit takes time to grow, not like gifts, which are freely given immediately

Virtue is moral excellence
  1. goodness.
  2. An example or kind of moral excellence
A virtue is a trait or disposition of character that is to be admired and leads to good behavior or goodness of act.

“Virtue (Greek αρετη; Latin virtus) is the habitual, well-established, readiness or diposition of man's powers directing them to some goodness of act “

“In the Greek it is more properly called ηθικη αρετη. It is "habitual excellence" that is practiced all the times in all circumstances. The virtue of perseverance is needed for all and any virtue since it is a habit of character and must be used continuously in order for any person to maintain oneself in virtue. “

Unethical lacking moral principles, dishonorable, inappropriate

A person may say it is ok for them to do a certain thing because it is legal. Yet that may be unethical. If it is contrary to God's standard of morality, then we are to submit to His ways and standards, which are far higher than man's.

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
