It is very liberating to remember that God knows we can't do what He asks of us but because He is so loving and gracious we should at least try to by His guidance and power. The OT Law was fulfilled in Christ and we have been made free.

Faith of works is just wearing out the flesh unless we are working for faith. I am glad you discovered this truth early on and fell into surrender to Him. Some people never figure that out.
