I googled nephilim and came to this site: http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/aid/v2/n1/who-were-the-nephilim. It said there are 5 views of the "sons of God" issue (the last being space aliens which was automatically tossed as far as discussion). I went back to the site, after I had closed it off and wouldn't let me back in, so maybe one of you can get it once. I went back to the opening post because I couldn't remember if context was originally noted.
Gen 6:1 reads "And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
Gen 6:2 reads "That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Gen 6:3 reads "And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Gen 6:4 reads "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
Gen 6:5 reads "And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. (KJV).
Well, my question is what does context tell us about the question. But spare me the elephant can't mate with sparrows. For me, if you have read the thread from start to finish, I don't think this answers any view. Nor does insulting other people's views that are different from yours constitute calling God a liar - unless you are prepared to say YOU are God.
Strangely enough, I don't have a horse in this race I simply like to learn.

Notice the Word Children was added by the translators? Notice God never said anything about any hybrid mess he was upset with? Notice God puts the spirit in man and It would be God who would have created these human angel hybrids with a different type of spirit. You notice the Angelic Class is lower than our class? So we are looking at some sub race if it were possible to happen.
There is nothing in the scriptures that say we have any mating between Humans and spirits. It would be impossible, where would the angel even get the right "tools" to do such a thing? it takes sperm and it takes eggs. Angels don't even mate with each other now.
Look at who God is upset with? he got upset that he created man, it even grieved him he almost washed his hands of us.
We have from Adam to Noah where the Earth had yet to see rain.
Adam was told to protect the Garden. From who? My guess is that at this time Angles came and went.
The first sin was to believe a dumb angel, and Adam was not deceived.
Jesus said Satan minds the things of men, so it's not stretch that angels mixed it up with humans and even took human wives. These wives bare (Became mid wives depending on how you translate that) to them and the World Children was added by the translators.
Considering the other many verses and order of things, then it would take a great imagination to think humans could produce Children from spirits. We would need at least one verse saying Angels where humans and one verse saying angels can procreate with each other. We have none.
It's not there, not even scientific evidence of any kind. It's all theories. Theories based on an interpretation of one scripture and ignoring a bunch others.
Calvin gave lots of Great scripture to why this can't be. We don't even have a scripture saying humans mated with Angels.
Mary the Mother of Jesus was probably quite informative as well when she was told of her coming pregnancy as heralded by her angelic visitor. She wondered how this could be since she had not been with a man. Now I suggest that if the notion of angelic/human cross breeding was known and accepted by her culture, she might have just asked which angel was going to visit her. But no, she thought only in terms of normal relations.......that should be a wakeup call to some here.

Well Silk, I'd say that in any Bible study topic, the recognized word of God ie. the Bible will set what context is, not the OP.
To limit discussion to the particular passage....(the topic passage) is to my way of thinking an attempt to hobble the word of God. If this offends you and you want to run off as in former times, that is for you to decide. I offer no apology for defending the Word of God or even just plain common sense.
My former post was not directed at you specifically, but if the slipper fits...wear it or leave it for an ugly stepsister to try on.

I just read an article in my doctors office while waiting, that 78% of American do not trust the govt. So, there has been and always will be those people who see conspiracies under every rock. Some people to this day believe that our govt. was behind the 9-11 attack.
It seems that we love to see things that are not there and then use the Bible to support a thought about something that does not exist. Then when the proper explanation is given, just as the information you just provided, it is rejected out of hand not because it is not correct, but because it does not support what they believe.

You see, people are comfortable with what they know, even if what they know is wrong. Then when the truth smacks them in the face, they simply are unable to accept it as reality.

You are claiming "The devil has seed" and in most other understandings it is called "Kenites".
May I first identify the Serpent Seed doctrine. It is the teaching that in the Garden of Eden, the serpent (the devil) had sexual relations with Eve. The result was that she bore Cain. The descendents of Cain are called Kenites. Abel, however, is the result of Adam and Eve having relations.
Now, before saying anything at all, I would like to know if that is what you are saying in your comment #187 which was .......

Just quoting the bible as you all say I'm not doing. It is what it is. There's nothing that says Eve and the serpent got it on so don't go there. But you all have said angels/demons don't have DNA... this says otherwise. Heavenly bodies are different but we'll still have bodies. I Cor 15.
My dear Silk, and I mean that with all my heart. I want you to do yourself a favor and go to the very first page of this thread and read my comment #2.
Now, we are right in the middle of this conversation and it is when the tempers, thoughts and opinions tend to come to a boil.
People become angry because others can not see what they see and we, yes even me tend to be come attack dogs and say things that we would not normally say. That is why these kinds of topics on threads are closed down. It is not because the topic is off limits, or to hard to talk about, but because we, the people become to emotional and say un-Christian things.
"10" pages of conversation is a lot and I encourage you to hang in there so that you can learn and remember this............
it is NOT what we think, it is what God says that is the TRUTH because truth is in fact reality.
OK.......please post for me the exact words you are referring to where we see that angels/demons have DNA.

The thought is that "SONS of Hamor" corresponds to the "SONS of God" which were human, ..............."from the hand of the sons of Hamor, Shechem‘s father," signifies the origin of that truth from a Divine stock.

If you are saying that the mingling resulted in something akin to a half bred/hybrid, demon and human, then yes. The "sons of God" would then be humans in the birth line of Seth or the Godly line of humans.
Question:
"It is never said that Cain didn't believe in God - he spoke with Him after Abel's death. There is no reason to believe that Cain would not have passed onto his children this important info. I fail to understand how that would explain why this passage is put into scripture?
Silk, what the Bible says is: Gen. 4:16:
"And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden".
I do not see how that can be missed. It is true both physically and spiritually. This verse gives us the view and direction of fallen and unsaved humanity, into exile without God, without hope in the world.
