We've all heard about how the Widow tithed more than all the rest who gave gold and silver into the collection at the temple.
Well, dare we read the scriptures for what they say, we see that the collection at the temple had nothing to do with the tithe. Nothing whatsoever.
Reading what Jesus actually said, He did not at any point in pointing to her, praise her giving, but rather pointed out proportions. She did indeed give more than all the rest, but not in relation to the value of what she had given, but in relation to what she had in this world, and they were all pouring their giving into a religious system.
