um, I don't go back to what I once was...so..I thank God for his Grace everyday.
The fall happened, it was satan stealing God's glory. Before all that, God pronounced us very good. Yes our own fault for listening to Satan's lies. But really God does not see us that way when we are in Jesus, when we have his covering. So...I don't know why us believers should focus on the 'unmerited' part. Unbelievers...different story, but then, I'm not preaching to anybody.
I think your view being so opposite is a bit concerning, cos God clearly chooses us first, before we even think about choosing him. He loved us first. To ascribe ourselves God's role in choosing and to claim we can just choose him without us having been drawn to him first, by His power..makes no sense. We can't make ourselves christians that way. He's the one that sees us, we can only see a little bit through human eyes. Our part is choosing his son, Jesus by believing Him.
I don't know whats so hard to grasp about this, but clearly, theres some issues there.
