Devine Relationship

God is so much greater than us (His ways are not our ways) that it is not possible to have a cause and effect relationship, as we understand relationships in this realm.
But we have one in road to a relationship with God and that is His Word.
It is not open for discussion, for we would try to discuss it at our level.
There is only one option and that is to rrcieve it unreservedly.
If we can do that then we are on God's ground.

Hello 2404;

Your thread, Devine Relationship is a good pondering to chew on. We cannot discuss with God on our level. So a part of the discussion is listening. I go into moments of silence in my prayers being still, patient and quiet. I don't hear an audible but can feel He is moving within me.

It's good to read your posts, brother.

God bless you and your family.

2404 Agreed and agreed in that wanting to discuss God and His word at our level, we would want to bend it to our will, and we would naturally try and find a way to circumvent what God is telling us and how we should be living to suit our purposes.

Yet we should feel free to discuss His Word in faith and in keeping with it's intended meaning. This is why context is so crucially important, so that we do not twist God's Word to suit our purposes or put the reader in danger of misunderstanding it's original intent.

It's easy to fall into the trap of quoting a nice sounding piece of scripture or a piece of scripture that mentions your intents but not maintain it's context. When we do that, we place the reader in danger of misunderstanding it's intention and God's Word becomes warped and we lead the reader astray.

Amen, yes context is so very important but even then the intent can be missed for Jesus said his church is built upon revelation. For example, no place in scripture was anyone ever baptized in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Ghost that is because that is not a name, it is who He is. Jesus Christ is the name. You are saved by the atoning work of Jesus Christ, when you are baptized in that name you are identifying yourself with it.
