Discernment

Reason is a law/tool established by God.
Laws/tools are to be used but they are not an end in themselves. Lucifer can't create but he uses the established laws as a means in his battle against the Lord. Being born again is a move of God not simply a product orchestrated by the manipulation of laws. Peter when he denied the Lord it was reasonable to throw in the towel because his actions appeared to be a precursor of the road he found himself on, however there was a divine factor at work in him. Judas took the reasonable road to fulfill that which lay within him and according to reason he had no way back. Cain by reason built a fine altar as much as it was possible but when it was rejected the only reasonable thing to do was to remove that which stood in his way.
Do we follow Christ because it is the reasonable thing to do or is there a new Spirit working within us?

Hello 2404;

It's been a long walk with Jesus and I feel I cannot see the "reasonable thing to do" but more of a Spirituel work within me. The moment I received Jesus at an early age, the Holy Spirit began to live in me. This has been my main thought concept through the years.

Peter, Judas, Cain and the rest were all "new believers" if you reflect on that. These guys were not seasoned men of God at that time the Word was written (about them) in the Old and New Testaments. I feel it had to be an act of the Spirit upon them that led them, not reason, except Judas who acted on his own rash decision without giving it much thought.

However, I can dig deeper and discuss the "reasonable thing to do" when I follow Jesus. The part is being able to articulate how I would describe the reason - law/tool established by God instead of making a bland statement.

Does this make sense?

God bless you, 2404, and thank you for posting a thread for thought.
