Do You Struggle With A Certain Sin?

Oh. Too late. I couldn't add this to my post above.
I am very hesitant. About everything. Sometimes my hesitance is based upon fear of failure. So that means both fear and procrastination.

selfish, ungiving, fearful, lazy, they are all just condemnations, fancy words satan will wave in front of your face to turn your eyes
off of Jesus the author and perfecter of your faith.
say after me....I am not selfish I am generous, I am a giving person.
I hestitate only in wisedom of conduct,
I am not afraid of failure, no weapon, no person, no obstacle is greater than my God.
I rest quietly and peacefully waiting on God to call.

I am selfish. Yes, I work against it, but I'm still selfish, even while giving. Unnnhhhh.

Humm, yes. That is probably the hardest one I find to acknowledge or at times willing to do something about.

In some ways, despite my own going astray and doing wrong things, I did (it's hard to explian but) put everything on the line and all my past dreams, even my own credibility (I mean someone who's been in mental hospital and at one time picked up the label schizoprenic, have been in hospital on alcohol detoxes, etc) sort of got blown away since I found Christianity.

But have I ever truly managed to forget self?

Sometimes when I'm saving for something (even though I know, fun as they might be, possessions have a sort of emptiness about them - whatever my own gap in (I suppose) satisfaction is, can not come from material things). I might find myself thinking "couldn't you give that to a charity instead?". But then I say
"please God, you know I don't have much. Look, my circumstances are such where I've had to live with my parents all these years, at least allow me my own place, restore me so that I can work again, give me a working income and I'd be able to give so much more to whatever charity pleases you, plus with credibility restored, maybe I could do so much more in this world and through what I've seen I know there are so many horrors. I could try to help if you'd let me".

But there again, maybe I'm just making an excuse...

In the office there's an adage that goes, say it like the truth so it becomes the truth. “Oh, I heard we’re getting off early on Friday.” And sometimes it works and the boss lets us go early. How does this apply to our lives in Christ?

First, if the word of God says “X” yet we experience “Y” in our lives. Making us think “X” is unobtainable or “just something spiritual” or “that’s for someone better than me”. Our beliefs do not line up with God. So we must change our thinking (brain) about “Y” to thinking about “X” so that “X” become the truth in our hearts (belief) lining up with God’s word. Everything about God is about faith from the heart (belief). If we think it’s true, but in our hearts we do not, then WE make it false. Here’s proof:

James 1:8 KJV A double minded man [is] unstable in all his ways.

See? When our thinking doesn’t mesh with our beliefs we’re double minded (brain vs. heart) causing us to be unstable in everything. So the promises of God are nullified in our lives by what’s in our hearts, Gal 2:21. So how do we fix this? How do we move the word of God from our brains to our hearts?

Well how do we get saved?

Rom 10:8-10 KJV But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Speak. Speak, with your voice the truth.

Notice v.10. With the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. So this next verse is true too of the opposite:

Mat 12:34 KJV - 34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Mat 15:8 KJV - 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with [their] lips; but their heart is far from me.

Ok, so what’s this got to do with the office example? At Creation, there wasn’t anything and God spoke and it was. He changed Abram’s name to Abraham (Father of many) even though he had no offspring.

Rom 4:17 KJV - 17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Think about it: what is prayer, speaking out for something that is not, so it can be. Therefore, what you must do (and I’m learning this for myself) is to speak the truth of the word of God: I am healed, Isa 53:5, 1Pet 2:24. I lack nothing, Psa 23:1. I am able, Phil 4:13. I am accepted, Eph 1:6. I am appointed by God, John 15:16. And on and on and on…

The real law of God is written on your hearts, Rom 2:15, and you are a walking scripture, 2Cor 3:2.

So Speak the Truth!

Pro 16:23 KJV - 23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

Psa 19:14 KJV - 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Psa 49:3 KJV - 3 My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart [shall be] of understanding.

Over time, the heart learns you're serious and takes you mouth and brain's advice and changes, NOW you have faith!

Thanks and indeed, everyone does, just not how to achieve in practical terms the desired outcome :) I thank God He's given it to me to learn so I can share with others. Faith IS indeed the currency of heaven.

Porn/Masturbation/Road Rage

To the person who asked how porn is even questionable. Well some of us males have higher testosterone than others ... some of us have higher libido .... so sometimes you wanna take a little peep than it turns into something else. Kind of like when you diet and you have access to cake whenever you want and eventually you give in.

I can go into any bar and never be tempted, but I cannot go near a Kispy Kreme store... you can't be tempted by that which you don't want.

What (to save me looking up) is one of them?

One of my mother's "sins" (That she won't mind me posting) is chocolate, cakes and anything sweet. Maybe not really a sin but she gets concerned about her weight and when stressed (eg a family fall out) reaches for these things as a helping hand.

I have a high libido but I don't look at porn.

If you have cake sitting on your counter it is understandable to want a bite as it if right there tempting you. If this is the case you may want to quit buying cake though.

Porn is not just laying around the house like a piece of cake. You have to deliberately type in a Web site and click on what you want to see.

Libido does not equal Porn. Having a libido is not a sin. Deliberately accessing pornography is a sin.
