I love animation as well as comics but I have just recently gotten into Anime and Manga.
So far I have read Death Note and watched Trigun, Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Soul Eater. I'm currently watching Gungrave, Mushishi, and Death Note.

Does anyone else watch Anime or read Manga?

Yeee@ssssdd!!

i want to be an animator and anime artist ^~^

I love magical / fantasy like sailormoon, doremi, kirby right back at ya, sonic x, alien 9

And slice of life:

Like hisor her circumstances, marmalade boy, vb rose(manga)

Pancakes, I haven't watched any of those. I'm watching Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Dragon Ball, and One Piece now.

Where is the Messiah, Manga is Japanese comics.

I've seen a couple of films. The first one I watched was the Little Norse Prince (Hols: Prince Of The Sun) which I thought was excellent and somehow different to any other animation I'd seen. Since then, I've watched Princes Mononoke and Nuasicaa of The Valley of the Wind. While I'd no more than this, I'd most certainly watch another Japanese animation if I notice it's on our free to view channels.

The first anime I was introduced to (back when VHS was still big) was Dragon Ball Z, still my favorite anime by far. The tapes were in Japanese and dubbed in English. I had no idea that it was a long series and didn't know that what I was watching was the beginning of the Majin Buu saga. Starting at the beginning of the series (eventually) was really boring seeing as though Goku was the first to go super saiyan and didn't even do so until the Freeza saga.

Others I've watched is Ninja Scroll (movie), Ronin Warriors, Gundam Wing, Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball GT and another that I can't remember but it had to do with people in different magic clans.

Ninja Scroll was pretty good. I watched that one a few weeks ago.
I'm watching Dragon Ball on Hulu and it's all in subtitles, unfortunately. Generally I wouldn't mind but my left eye has been really blurry recently so I get headaches when I read for too long.

I watch Ai Yori Aoshi and Lucky Star at the moment, and someday I will watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and K-On. :p I am an otaku. And when I was 6-11yo, I liked CardCaptor Sakura, Crayon Shin-Chan, Digimon, InuYasha, Ojamajo Doremi, Pokemon, Ranma 1/2, Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, and Urusei Yatsura, Love Hina, and many other animes as well. And I read a lot of manga when I was 7-11yo.

Yeah, I hate reading subtitles. I read slow so it takes away from what I see on the screen as to what's going on.

My wife hates them too. They aren't too bad for me.

Try a speed reading app on your phone or Eyercize on the computer it helps a ton with reading speed.

Your comprehension level goes up the more you practice. What I generally do is find a shorter book that I have already read or don't really care about and practice using that.

The average reading speed supposedly around 250 to 300 words per minute and I can do around 400 words per minute now with total comprehension unless it's something complicated. If you want, you can PM me and I'll get you some links.

I always have the subtitles on. I started doing it as when I'm having my usual hr or so of tv watching before bed, I'm also dabbling with mandolin or guitar. I use it at other times now as there are differences in opinion at home over how loud the living room tv should be (and it appears my hearing is not the best) ...

By the way, are Christians allowed to watch anime with few ecchi scenes? Ai Yori Aoshi and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya sometimes have few ecchi scenes, but they are very good shows...

I would say for most people that would be okay, Polly. Some people are more susceptible to lust than others, so as long as it won't trigger sin you should be fine.

I try to stay away from it myself though.

Because you are male? But hentai is the bad one... And maybe KissxSis is bad too... Ai Yori Aoshi is just a cute soap opera anime with few ecchi scenes, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is about a crazy girl, but that show doesn't contain much ecchi either...

Not really because I'm male but because I've had problems with pornography in the past.

I would say that's okay. As long as there is no lust on your part you'll be fine.
