Does your church have armed security guards now?

I don't believe we have the "right" to bare arms.

Dear In Awe of Him;

There are millions of Americans who feel the same as you do. Ironically, many of these Americans will protest with weapons like sticks, stones and fires at "paid protest" rallies. Unfortunately, it's an ongoing, difficult debate between both sides in our country.

The only time I shot a gun was in another country by pointing a .22 rifle in the air and shot. I didn't think of it at the time but that wasn't very smart. Other than that one time, my wife and I don't believe in owning a gun in our home, never have, never will.

But I support our second amendment for the other millions of Americans who do exercise their right to bear arms. To be truthful, many of these same Americans I have spoken to and discerned, exercise responsibility in their ownership of their guns.

Still, I do understand your belief in not having the right to bear arms.

God bless you, sister.

Bob

It just all sounds strange to me... WE are NOT born with the RIGHT to bear arms... this thought comes from your country's mind-set of
Patriotism ( which Canada also does not display ). I am NOT proud to be Canadian... I am grateful to be one.... so it's just a whole different
way of looking at things.

Many Christians though balk at concept of even needing to use guns for self defense, as they seem to think just prayers would be enough
I don't even chalk it up to prayers being enough.... but... I do know that if I was ever attacked... I would simply try to fight off my attacker to the best of my ability. I lived a very rough life in my 20's... I hung out in less than desirable places... so I am pretty aware of my surroundings... ( which means nothing when confronted with a gun ). HA... .but... anyways... again... this is a mindset of upbringing... ( I think that is what it is. ).

Dear In Awe of Him;

You are grateful to be Canadian as you should be.

In the past couple of years, my church has innated training for security, and since Mi is a concealed and carry pistil permit state, we also do have them armed and ready now, and the members doing security are police, ex military pretty much now

Hello YeshuaFan;

I had the opportunity to minister in your state (Missouri Baptist Convention) and got to know some of the residents there.

But I forgot to ask you, when did your Church implement security? Did you issue certificates after the training and did those serving in security have "guard cards" or a CCW?

rtm3039 used to attend a Church in Miami with a Security Ministry of a large Church.

God bless you, brother.

The right to bear arms was due to us breaking away from King george and Empire of Great britain, as we wanted to make sure that we had chance to protect ourselves if and when a tyrant even tried to take us over

Actually, I live near Detroit Mi, so we already are used to having to deal with "issues" regarding violence and criminals, and we started to really get into security around time of Covid, and many of those on security team were in military, security guards, or policy, and others just hunters but all all the license to carry pistols

No. Our Church is in Los Altos, CA, a pretty peaceful community and part of the South Bay (Silicon Valley.) It's encouraging that our GenZ's and Millennials in their respective career fields have increased in their Christian walk and Church attendance.
This was the statement/joke I was referring to.
NOT
"He had a gun so when I preached I hoped the message didn't offend him."

Oops. Sorry I stand corrected. Detroit Michigan is close to Flint, home of Grand Funk Railroad. Mark Farner their lead singer and guitarist gave his life to Jesus about 40 years ago.

It may sound strange to anyone who is not familiar with our history. The USA was founded upon WAR. It is the result of many conflicts.

To understand what the founders really meant when they included the 2nd Amendment, you have to go back to their world. This was a place shaped by flintlock muskets, colonial militias, revolutionary Minutemen, and a deep fear of professional armies inherited from England.

In 1688 King James II did two things that terrified his subjects and gave him total controle...............
#1. he kept a professional “standing” army during peacetime without Parliament’s approval.
#2. he systematically disarmed his political and religious enemies while arming only those loyal to him.

The people in the young America knew that and did not want to see it repeated. Our founding fathers had built in practical safeguards against the kind of tyranny that they had lived under in England. The English had learned the hard way that that a government seeking to disarm its people was a government to be feared.

I had my 9MM behind my pulpit a long time before there was a covid.

FYI.......The Bible and especially Jesus does not teach pacifism.

The Bible is filled with examples of God taking bloody vengeance on His enemies. And those examples are not limited to the Old Testament. It is impossible to read the book of Revelation without seeing the Lamb of God in His role as the Lion of Judah. The imagery is clear that Jesus will overcome His enemies with war . This is the same Jesus who is quoted by pacifists to support their cause.

Jesus also told His disciples to sell their goods and buy a sword!

I don't consider myself a pacifist... "pointing finger at YOU" for giving me a LABEL. HAHA. :D
My opinion is not based on any sort of conviction as a Christian.

The only guns I have ever seen are hunting rifles and I have seen the smaller guns in the holsters of police officers and the BRINKS men who deliver and pick up money from the banks.

Our countries are simply different. I would rather be the victim of a crime... then one who has killed someone. That I believe is God's job to decide.

Interesting, do we ever read of the Apostles / disciples using their swords ot teaching us to do the same?
Were to be used only for self defense not called to be Christian Samurai

Their city's leaders have shown their loss of respect for human life. They know it and we know it. Still they hate our country's president for wanting to protect their citizens. What we don't hear enough are Chicago's citizens that are grateful for the protection.
I was baffled that people would actually protest! Crime at an all time high and the president resolves to do something about it and people are upset.
