That is a good reminder Mom. Always touch a good ground (the unpainted metal on your car and/or the pump for example) to discharge your static before turning it on.
I saw a video a while back were a gasoline delivery driver was on top of his truck during unloading of the gas. He aswered his cell phone and the static ignited the gas blowing him off the truck and starting a fire. It was surely God's mercy that he was not seriously hurt and the fire was quickly contained.
One othe thought- do not use cell phones outside during an electical storm. The are a nice antenna for electricity seeking to ground itself.
