Easter Sabbath 3/31/18 Seventh Day Baptist Edgewater, FL Pastor Keith sermon “He Is ALIVE” I Corinthians 15:1-8
The people in the New Testament saw Jesus being nailed to a cross. They watched Him die and be buried. All their hopes and dreams were buried with Him. For three days they mourned the death of Jesus, who they loved. Then… on the first day of the week, the women found an empty tomb because Jesus was gone. That is when the angel told them that Jesus is alive and is risen as He had said He would.
The women were confused then and today some people are still confused about the Resurrection. This is what we celebrate today…. that Jesus is ALIVE! Jesus has a name above ALL names. The name Jesus is a Powerful name. The Resurrection day is the MOST significant day in history. Jesus Christ is the only one who ever resurrected. You can find no trace of Him and no bones in a grave!
Christ died for our sins and was raised up the third day. He appeared to the disciples, to 500 people and then to Paul. In verses 50 – 51, it says we shall be resurrected like Jesus. Before the Resurrection, the cross used to be a symbol of death but now, because of the resurrection, the cross means New Life to us. We wear a cross around our necks. Before the Resurrection, the tomb used to be a place of ending. Now the tomb, because of the Resurrection, is a place of joy because it was empty. We now have Peace because we know that death and the tomb is not the end for us.
Jesus said He came to bring us Life, Hope, Joy and Peace. We get strength through Jesus and the Power of His Resurrection. After the Resurrection, death has no power because Jesus is ALIVE and we too can live forever!! In Jesus’s Name!! Before the Resurrection, time was limited. But now after the Resurrection, time is unlimited. Death has no sting anymore because the Resurrection makes us alive FOREVER!!
