Economics vs Politics

When some politician claims what is patently and absolutely contrary to what economists have known for a century, that politician is a pathological liar, or totally incompetent!

Yep. Always has been.

What amazes me is that people still believe a politician that will lie and lie and then when he/she is caught.....lie some more.

At the end of the day, we created this monster. Ther is a finite number of people willing to go through the hell that is running for office, so those that have already survived tend to do it again (and again). Politicians have to lie, because no one vote for someone that tells the truth. They also have to raise millions and that results in even more lies.

If we came across a politician that refused to lie, most of what he/she would say would anger people and force them to either accept the reality of our current situation or go with someone that says what we want to hear.

So, the bottom line is simple: We have two types of politicians; those that lie and those that do not get caught.

You can see when politicians lie--their lips move. They all lie no matter which party to which they belong. Currently we're dealing with the Demoncrat Party liars.

I hate to ask…

But how does a dictatorship happen?
The establishment of a dictatorship comes on slowly, almost imperceptibly, like the frog in the slowly warming pot who doesn't realize that the water, when it boils, will kill it. Compare the degree of everyday personal liberty Americans possessed a century ago with how many everyday restrictions with which Americans must now comply.

But how does a dictatorship happen?
Generally, the people lose faith in their leaders for a multitude of reasons- corruption, bad policies, lack of leadership, etc. Then a strong leader gives a vision of a "better" way, garners support and control of the military, then takes over. Now, though, parties are figuring out ways to do this incrementally through things like censorship and accusations of racism and hate rhetoric.

Yes, the comments above are the right answer.

I am originally from Cuba and was born at the same time Castro took power. In his case, he was initially fighting against the Presidency of Batista, who was at one point the elected President, but subsequently re-took power through a military coup. People had no issues with that aspect, so Castro became a hero of the revolution. Basista was backed by the US, which is how Castro was able to turn the people against the US. He initially denied being communist but sided with socialist ideology. By the time he showed his true ideology, many Cubans were "sucked" into the idea, and he won the hearts of the majority.

There is more to this, but the above is the short version.

What that economist said is not entirely true. He said the sheiks can't cause inflation, but they can. When they raise oil prices, that inevitable affects the price of everything else. That's why some have talked about our being energy independent so that the oil imports don't have such a catastrophic impact upon our economy. Oil goes, up EVERYTHING goes up.

The federal government going crazy with spending and printing of money, yes, that too has a tremendous impact, but oil runs a close second.

it is increasing and it is crazy And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine. our economy is being pulled /controlled by the puppet masters socialism is on the rise and knocking at our door . the present leadership is doing all they can to head us that way. pardon the expression it dont take a rocket scientist to see whats going on.

the Love of money (which creates power) is the root of all evil. a good example Sam Walton compare wall mart today vs how he left it when he passed on. J.C penny another . nothing wrong with wealth when used in the right manner. its been said men in bib overalls built this nation. men in suits are destroying it.

where i come from there is only one way to say it. we are being sold out
