Enoch

Interesting speculation who the two witnesses are in Revelation to be Enoch and Elijah.
Wonder if indeed this turns out to be true they will go by those names as they speak out?
Since they will be Jews, that is possible.

I for one believe that those men will come "In the power" of Elijah and Enoch.

There is no sense for God to remove them alive, and have them wait 3000 or 4000 years to die only to give them glorified bodies when they die. They had to receive glorified bodies to be in heaven to begin with.

Agreed … just like John the Baptizer most likely came in the power of Elijah with he additional announcement Who the Lamb of GOD manifested as fully man fully GOD I AM is.

We are not certain given the full distortion of the “news” these two witnesses may be here now testifying???

So many signs of the times such as the fall of Damascus, the process of them drying up of the Euphrates, the Abraham Accords - “peace, peace and there is no peace”, billions dying of disease …

Ever wonder why The Father did not tell even The Son when the Second Advent will be???

Be watching and ready.

Excellent post!

We are pretty sure that their ministry has not started.

I say that because........
#1. The church (Believers) are still here which means the Rapture has not taken place.
#2. The Bible says in Rev. 11:3-4 that they their ministry will "Be before the Lord". The Holy of Holies is where God met the Jews. It is my understanding then that the two Jewish Preachers will preach Jesus from the Re-built Jewish Temple.

However.....I would certainly agree that what we are seeing with the fall of Syria, Iran running out of water, the Euphrates drying up are all pre-coursers of the 2nd Coming.

Wow good catch became !

I have a KJV of EW Bullinger with Appendices. He certainly had an <mmmm errrr> unique perspective that dug deeply into languages.

I read him with a discerning eye to be sure.
I do not want or intend to cast water on your opinion, however the words "He certainly had an <mmmm errrr> unique perspective " for Mr. Bullinger ring very true.

In other words....be careful! E. W. Bullinger was the father of a system of theology called..."Hyer dispensationalism".
A man by the name of Les Feldick who is a totally false teacher today is also a proponant!

H. A. Ironside wrote a rebuttal to what was then known as Bullingerism entitled Wrongly Dividing the Word of Truth.
This book is still a valuable resource for those who have been confused by the false teachings of hyperdispensationalists. Current hyperdispensationalists distance themselves from Bullinger and resent being linked to him.

Hey Major!

Shalom.

If not there yet surely we are mighty close.
But I make NO claims of prophesy nor follow those who do.

We are told to WAIT and WATCH.

We aren’t supposed to discuss the “rapture” here be it “secret” or otherwise so I won’t go there except to say I wanna’ “be there” be it on earth looking up or in The Great Cloud of Witnesses accompanying I AM with His New Name upon the joyous Wedding Ceremony in The New Jerusalem.

Maranatha!

Our Pastor does an excellent dissertation of this. Such as blessing truly humble, sweet soul!

Absolutely on dispensationalism re: Bullinger. Here “goes there” off the rails to be sure.

However I read the rules here and did not want to stir being a junior new member.

Tippy toe!

Here is the commentary I place most credence upon is John Gill.

I note in this site’s areas you have links to the reference sites I frequent.

Gill served the same great pulpit ~ 100 years before Spurgeon. Neither of which espoused Darby or Scofield. Spurgeon being contemporaries of the off rails in disagreement with same.

Gill’s fluency on original languages truly <smile> inspired. He has wrongly been labeled Calvinist in type.

John Gill

Commentators past and present have considered that option. Even the pseudepigraphal writings made that connection.

"After these things, Elijah and Enoch will come down. They will lay down the flesh of the world, and they will receive their spiritual flesh. They will pursue the son of lawlessness and kill him since he is not able to speak. (Apocalypse of Elijah 5:32)

Of course others have proposed Moses over Enoch.

Not debating hand raised asking… ???

Aren’t the two witnesses in Revelation killed after 2 yrs of testifying in Jerusalem???

As she types and doesn’t look it up
Like she should… uh oh.
Not to misquote for sure.
Not this book!

Going with Brother Major on Scripture only.

I won't call it inspired, but there are parts that really do shed light on otherwise cryptic Bible verses.

I found the following verses from Peter and Jude that perhaps reflect back on 1 Enoch.

2 Peter 2:4-5 ESV

4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; 5 if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly;

Jude 14-15 ESV

14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones, 15 to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”

It seems Peter and Jude were familiar with this book. The fact that Jude writes Enoch prophesied implies he placed it on equal footing with other scripture.

I truly wish we had an Aramaic or Greek copy from the 1st century...

Clarification please. What does the "it" refer to in your sentence? What exactly is "on equal footing with other scripture"? Do you simply mean that the prophecy Enoch made or something else?

=> Wonder if The Dead Sea Scrolls preserved fragments of Enoch?

What I find remarkable about GOD protecting the continuity of the Holy Writ is almost all the long book of Isaiah was intact.

Elsewhere the pivotal account of Saint Polycarp was preserved passed down from the early church fathers. Polycarp, The Bishop of Smyrna the last chosen saint to Saint recorded in Revelation.

When I had my earthshaking come to Jesus experience I read the whole of New Testament like one starving for food quickly. I came to the most approved Church of Smyrna and wondered what made this leadership so special?

Martyrdom of Polycarp

I found Berit’s this page and communicated with the author and we became friends. Polycarp too was pivotal to her transformation. She allowed me to read some of her works before she published. I have most of her print books.

Somewhere in the crevices of my deteriorating mind I recall King James nixed Enoch’s inclusion in canon.

He certainly had the thumbs up or down for the Apochrapha.

Read between the lines what the committee members say in the foreword.

We can in fact discuss the Rapture but not go into details or timeing.

It does tend to become a very argumentitive topic in the past as some of us do not have the ability to talk without argueing a biased opinion.

I avoid the R word and stick with Second Advent personally or use the P word Parousia. My cousin and I can maintain our civility in this way. :)

Still wondering … but not in an accusatory Job taking I AM to trial way with a WHY ?

We have already established am odd. Ah yah…
My cousin who knows me well affirms this… surely my husband also.

But one of my favorite books in the Old Testament is The Book of Job.

Specifically Chapters 38-42.

Humbles the snot outta’ me as I AM thunders …

Where were you when … ?

Gulp!

}}}===>>> During the Olivet Discourse Jesus says He was not even told the timing of His Second Coming.

I find this most mysterious!

Maybe we need another discussion of how’s comes and who’s of the Saints to ask?

Seems like even those under The Throne waiting still didn’t know according to The Bible when they will be avenged.

I am focusing on the word "prophecy". Jude uses that word when speaking of God coming with tens of thousands. That appears to show how Jude viewed the Enoch text.

P.S.

The preceding verse includes this: "wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever."

The " wandering stars" is interesting since stars are equated with angels according to the Enoch text. I had overlooked this possible connection at first pass.
