I try to be resourceful. I use my computer to help further my relationship with God. I love listening to biblegateway and following along as I read. Plus the bold points as to what each section of each chapter help too. I do watch waaaaaaaaaaay too much TV though. I should be spending more of that time with God and working on my dissertation.

lol...well I thought it was a good fast for you...remember to remove the big ole log in your own eye before you try to remove the little bitty twig in your brothers eye....A post on a forum would not count, but I was recommending that fast for you not me.

The right thread for meIf you want to "fast" I suggest a TV fast? How many times do you think we compromise what we believe when we watch TV? What effect does it have to intake a steady stream of unbelief and ungodly behavior? I invite comments...
I am talking with my wife over last couple of weeks about disconnecting our cable connection.. This is the problem for me.. I don't know if this affects others the same way..It comes into our lives as though it is all for good.. It is only for watching news (after all we have to know the seasons and times we are living in), watching some science related programs and some shows for kid so that she can learn more.. So we took the connection.. We also made it a point that we would never watch sitcoms (which I did the last time we had) or movies (which I used to watch many years back).. And we are keeping it.. We also think it will never impact our time spent with God..
This is what eventually happens.. We never watch news
Even if we watch, it is plain useless.. All science related programs are useless.. Because it is all about UFO's or aliens.. The closest Biblical programs will be simply blasphemous.. We end up watching shows in Food network and waste our time.. Our family prayer time has gone down drastically.. Satan is still putting the wrong thoughts in my mind.. Saying it is the only relaxation after a hectic day at work.. Blah bla.. When I should be sitting up with my Bible and renewing..And finally learning for kids.. That is another joke! Instead of doing puzzles or playing some other games, my daughter would just get into couch and sit there for hours.. Straining her eyes and turning cranky.. And often we use TV as a weapon to give her food or get our things done.. It becomes like a work around for handling kids.. Instead of spending the time with her in coloring or teaching (which she actually enjoys), we make our daughter watch TV.. It is sort of putting her in a shell..
