Favorite Modern Day Preacher

Interesting.. Would you mind explaining how?

If modern means strictly a source of ministry today, then no because he time on earth was thousands of years ago. Yes because she is still an active source of ministry for a lot of people...for those who believe in eternal life in heaven.

This is probably a bit more of a Catholic sentiment in all fairness.

Okay something to debate in another forum.. My question is more of source of ministry today

Greetings:

I'm not a SDA,but Doug Batchelor sees things from a different perspective, drawing out Satan's subtle corrupting tweaking.

Indeed, this is something that I think has been debated in other threads. Let's leave it at some may not take Glomung seriously on this one as he did say that. The source of ministry today would be also not be taken seriously, but I understand what he means.

If I began to explain, and I don't mean this as a put down to anyone, but I think of flood of rebuttals would ensue, and it lasts for days in explaining.

I leave my answers at Nicky Cruz and Fr. Robert Barron.

Don't yell at me about this guy, but it's Joel Osteen. Let's not start debating, cause it will get this thread locked. And I don't want it locked. Can we agree to not fight about Joel because it is about the same thing? I said to the mods I wouldn't bring his name up, cause of the debating.

I won't debate you about it. In fact I'll say something positive about Joel Osteen:

Joel Osteen is a world class motivational speaker!

Whether folks agree or disagree, I think you gave a perfectly valid answer.

Ya, If I want to get built up and know that God loves me, then Joel is the goto guy. I don't listen to Joel, (MUCH) but I know He lives what He preaches and is a great guy.

Thank you, MichaelH. That's all I'm saying.

And I listened fully to Paul Washers sermon and don't agree with him one bit. He is trying to scare us into hiding under a rock and not being a part of the world. Yes the world is weird, but so what?

Dana,

The fear of the Lord is the BEGINNING of wisdom- without it, you cannot fully appreciate God. As much as you may not like it, Washers preaching lines up with the gospel of salvation. The question is...do you want to hear a ear tickling message that keeps you separated from God or one that makes you go humbly before God and ask forgiveness for all that you have done against Him? Many of Jesus own disciples of the day walked away from Him because they did not like or understand the message He preached. ' Behold- the kingdom of God is at hand... Repent and believe the gospel'. Why are you scared of the true gospel of salvation- that God can and will give you a new heart and cleanse you from your unrighteousness...The soul that sinneth it shall die...If you want to remain part of the world and apart from God, just so you can listen to preachers that make you smile, you are missing out on a far greater supernatural experience...consider these things. Here is a link to an entirely different preacher- Leonard Ravenhill...He preaches the same message, just a little different. These men have God in their hearts and that is why the words they speak cut.. When you reject the gospel, you reject Jesus...

To all of you: I didn't want to mention Joel Osteen because I knew a couple of you would try to tell me all the wrong things about him. So, I DO NOT WANT ANY PM's from any of you about this subject. I like Joel and there's nothing you can say to pursuade me to hate him. LysanderShapiro is okay with me liking him. Why can't you be? End of Joel Osteen talk.

We won't all agree on this forum. Some here are non-denominational, some are Catholic, some are Calvisinist. While dosagreements are bound to happen, we all have one thing in common--we are all madly in love with The Lord.

First I get happy hearing the Word of God. I am sorry that you have no joy in hearing the eternal Word. Must be awful to be you.
Second, we have talked you have a few things that make sense but to judge Dana saying He is scared of some "True" Gospel and scared of "True" Salvation which must there be a False one if there is a term True one which you have Zero scripture "ONCE AGAIN" to back up.
Also who said God has not saved him and he does not have a new Heart? He would not even be here if he did not love God.

TC, you ignorant judgements and lack of backing things up with Scripture is getting very annoying. Grow up!!! If someone says someone has helped them, you don't put that person down. Get a clue.

Mike.

I have no doubt TC is presenting his voice out of love. I think TC is very devout in his faith and wants to make sure no one is being steered in any false way away from God. For that, I'm thankful for TC.

We will never all have an agreement on one specific doctrine here. I suspect the moderators here don't mind questions of doctrinal differences, but I know they want to avoid constant (and certainly hostile) arguments. If we can't present our answers and questions with charity, then it might be best to not present them at all.

I am against judgement of others. If you call yourself a believer and be a judge, I call you out as a Brother in the Lord.

How about this.

"I personally don't find the message Joel preaches to have enough meat in it. For me it seems like just part of the picture. That is just how I feel, and I encourage you to give Ravenhill a listen as it blesses me."

We can get our message across without saying someone does not have "TRUE" salvation because there is no such thing as "False" salvation, it's a oxymoron.

It's like saying I am driving to Work in a Make believe Car, I should make it there quick.

Blessings.

Michael...once again your lack of understanding of scripture( and short term memory) shows:

Lets see if scripture says there are false gospels shall we?

2Pe 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
2Pe 2:2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.
2Pe 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I am not going to go into a lengthy diatribe on the numerous warnings about false gospels. Anyone who knows scripture knows the warnings are there for good reason

I have already show you to be a false teacher in other posts using scripture to do so, so let's not go there about me 'lacking scripture' for my positions..Anyone on here that has ever discussed the gospel with me complains that I use to much scripture( I perhaps do sometimes without realizing it- I will admit that)

If you do not know the true gospel it is because the Holy Spirit has not taught you- some other spirit has.

1Jn 4:5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
1Jn 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

Joh 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Ask your self a question...when you get home at night which comes first- you turn on the TV or go open your Bible...which one really draws your interest? What do you spend more time doing... watching TV or feeding on the word of God? Now ask that same question for all the other 'activities in your life and see where your first love really is.

The Bible says 'let your speech always be seasoned with grace'...and 'for the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh'...
ponder that.

Michael- funny that you post that Ravenhill video- I linked to it above for Dana to hear as well just a few minutes ago...
Ravenhill is one of the last to preach the real truth and exhort. If we had 'Ravenhills' in all the churches today they would be mostly empty because people do not want to hear that kind of preaching anymore...

I absolutely agree. We must be willing to listen in order to respond, and I think casting judgement on an individual rather than an action is something to be rejected.

I don't want to discard TC as someone who is not doing this in charity...perhaps he is, and perhaps he is not. Nonetheless, the last thing we want is to make assumptions of one another, even if one person started it.

LysanderShapier is correct. I posted the video and gave you an example of how to get people to listen to you. What you did was make accusations against Dana about True Salvation because of someone they listen to and like. There is no logic in that.

I watched the video, I like a lot of his statements. "You can't make people better by changing their environment." was one statement that is so true and wrong with the World. People believe that we need to solve global Warming or fix that when the only fix is living for God.

I am not sure how you "HEAR" things but this guy had good humor was uplifting and knew his stuff.
Why you want to be depressed after hearing a message is beyond my ability to understand.

I also like what he said... "you can't love a bible, love a thing, but only a person"

My Pastor teaches that, we are not to use the Word love a thing, or to love things. I was pleased to hear that in there.

anyway........... Thank you for sharing the video.
