Had my first colonoscopy today. My anxiety was high and I of course couldn't take anything to combat it. It wasn't the procedure, it was the results.
Polyps run in my family and my Uncle on my dad's side who is only a year older than me had colon cancer. So, I'm sure you can understand why my anxiety was high.
I was in and out in an hour. They removed for small polyps. The doctor sent them for biopsy as it is their procedure, but she said they looked like common run of the mill polyps and non-cancerous. She said if she was really concerned she would have put a rush on the biopsy results. She does want to sew me in a year for a repeat colonoscopy and if everything is good not again for 5 years.
