Foreign Aid to Nations---Your Thoughts?

This is just a question to get YOU to think about the world you live in.

Abstract facts..........Since 1985 about 95 percent of U.N. member states that receive U.S. assistance have voted against the United States most of the time in the U.N. General Assembly on non-consensus votes.

The USA gives aid to 180 countries of which YOU pay 100% in YOUR taxes paid every year.
The top four countries are ...........
Ukraine, ====$17,200,000

Israel, ======$3,300,000

Jordon =====$1,700,000

Egypt===== =$1,500,000

Ukraine and Israel are there because of the recent conflicts there.

The next 10 are.......
Ethiopia=====$1,457,374,911

Somalia=====$1,181,033,990 ......Radical Muslim and Anti-USA

Nigeria======$1,019,947,490

Congo ======$990,456,757

Afghanistan===$886,536,741...........Radical Muslim Terrorist Anti-USA

Kenya=======$846,303,488..........Radical Muslim Terrorist Anti-USA

Mozambique===$776,819,594.........Radical Muslim Anti-USA

Syria=========$762,793,444........Radical Muslim Anti-USA

South Sudan====$755,501,999.........Radical Muslim Anti-USA

Colombia======$738,778,592..........Radical anti-USA

Yemen========$733,316,883...........Radical Muslim anti-USA

Now, knowing what you are paying for, what are your feelings on these countries and the fact that only Israel has voted with the USA 95% of the time.

The average % of Muslim countries receiving USA aid who voted with the USA is 7% of the time.

What are your toughts?

Foreign aid was established after WWII to help rebuild war torn countries, but somewhere along the line, it became a Santa Claus obligation of the US for giving money to every country with its hand out. I can understand how America might have felt that during the Cold War that it could keep 3rd world nations from aligning with China and the Soviet Union by buying them off. But that time has passed, and now it's time to bring home that money to help America pay its own debts.

If you regularly give aid, the recipient grows to expect it. This gives you leverage. By threatening to withhold aid, you can influence that nation's politics. This is far cheaper than going to war.
If we're giving money to avoid war, that's extortion plain and simple. It's far less expensive to maintain a strong military that will make other countries from wanting to engage the US in a war.

Genesis 12:3 KJV
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Matthew 25:31-40 KJV
When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: [32] And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: [33] And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. [34] Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: [35] For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: [36] Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. [37] Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
[38]When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? [39] Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? [40] And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Because of these two passages, I am all for supporting the country of Israel.

It's not just about waging war with us. It's also leverage on the international stage. Think of building coalitions. Yes, it's extortion but still far better than war. Plus we're not the only one doing this. Look at the work China is putting into Africa.

PS The federal govt does this at state, county and city level too. That's a different game as we are seeing. It sounds nice giving grants to jurisdictions but the result is the same: beholden.

Hello LearningToLetGo and BibleLover;

This is an interesting subject and what you both share is a common truth from both views. At home my wife and I try to keep abreast and discuss foreign aid to nations as well as our personal aid.

We wholly support Israel, Ukraine and others that we personally give. We trust our US government despite our constructive thoughts and statistics from what Major shared.

God bless everyone.

Bob

I support Israel. They are in the right and far more moral than their enemies.

Ukraine has a horrible history of abuse at the hands of Russia. Lookup "Holodomor". That said, they're no saints. I want that war to end before it goes nuclear, by whatever means present themselves, even at the cost of Ukraine losing territory and honor.

Hi LearningToLetGo;

Would you agree nobody ever really knew for sure whether the famine in Holodomor was a freak natural disaster, low harvest of grain production, politically intentional by the Soviet leader Stalin, or other motives that killed millions of people? The death of millions who starved to death is my greatest concern.

From my missionary experience of visiting Chernivtsi (Western Ukraine) in 2022 and 2024, it was a much smaller scale city compared to Kyiv and Kharkiv. Still, we experienced the impact this city had within the war, the refugees who fled the Eastern Ukraine and the rest of the country.

We didn't think of the politics but was more focused on witnessing the suffering and weariness of Ukrainians' future. We gave what we could, perishables / nonperishable foods, blankets, socks, beds, money, etc...

I don't know the outcome of the Ukrainian Russia war but if it means giving a piece of the country back kind of reminds me of what happened in Hong Kong, 1997. Many Hong Kongers left and are living new lives around the world.

Ukrainians have fled to Romania, Spain, Canada, the United States and other nations. How they were able to leave comes in all sorts of testimonies.

In our country's Lincoln Gettysburg address statement, "government of the people, by the people, for the people". I love America but I don't feel there's much
"bite" in that statement these days. If the United States was in an extreme position of suffering I pray another country would offer us aid without their politics getting in the way.

Other's thoughts?

Bob

Stalin was a murderous man. Whether he engineered the starvation or merely opportunistically profited from it is a matter for historians.

I agree.

Your comment is right on and the real problem is that the money given to foriegn DID NOT work. Those nations only voted with and agreed with us in less than 15% of the time in UN votes.

To me that is like feeding a lion expecting him to lay down next to you and instead, he eats your leg.

This is just a question to get YOU to think about the world you live in.
1.I think this is more a political problem and you should discuss this with a member of Congress.
Church and State should be separate

2. You all know the old saying:, "there are no free lunches out there",
there is usually a catch somewhere.

As a Christian I need to be guided by the Word of God, eg that we support Orphans and Widows
Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
The Brothers of Mine
"This phrase can be interpreted as fellow believers or those who are part of the Christian community, emphasizing the importance of caring for one another within the body of Christ." ( from biblehub)

My priority at the moment would be to support a Palestinian Church, and give the leaders the responsibility to use the gift faithfully

A need has to be assessed properly and we always need to be careful of some "Gibeonites"

Ukraine will prevail as long as the USA gives it arms and support.

This is a question aimed at YOU because it is YOUR tax money that pays terrorist Muslim countries BILLIONS of dollars every year.

Seperation of church and state ONLY resides in the USA. In Muslim countries, the nation is run and regulated by the church of Muhammad.

Is there such a thing as a Palestinian Church????? If you are suggesting separation of church and state, then how would a Palestinian Church rule a state????

Hamas, a Muslim terrorist regime has ruled Gaza for 20 years and look at what has happened over those years. Same with Lebanon. They allowed an Iranian Muslim terrorist group to control their nation for one purpose.......Irradicate Israel!

I looked that up. Ready for a SURPRISE??????????

Russia was actually one of the first nations to send humanitarian aid in the aftermath of 2005’s Hurricane Katrina. One of the worst natural disasters in US history, Katrina cost 1,836 people their lives and caused untold property damage. Russia donated more than 60 tons of supplies, including food rations, tents, blankets, medicine, a rescue helicopter, and a water purification system.

In 2012, Hurricane Sandy wrecked the East Coast. Sandy was responsible for 117 deaths in the US and billions in property damage, and Russia once again stepped in with humanitarian assistance—more than 50 tons in all.

In 2011, a catastrophic tornado demolished the city of Joplin, Missouri. The death toll was 161, and Joplin was rendered a post-apocalyptic wasteland. United Arab Emirates (UAE) embassy. Ultimately, the UAE provided 2,200 students in Joplin with MacBooks to use as a replacement for outdated textbooks (among other educational applications). The UAE also spent $5 million to build a neonatal intensive-care unit at Mercy Hospital, which was also obliterated by the tornado.

In 2015 Turkey’s Agency for Cooperation and Collaboration (TIKA) donated $200,000 to build a water tank for the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon. This grant is to ensure clean drinking water for 10 l.years for a reservation elementary school.

Who knew????

If Biblehub has that right, who then are His sheep? Are they all born-again believers? The matter may hinge on when this Judgment of the sheep and goats takes place. It makes more sense that after the Tribulation/Jacob's Trouble (Mt 24) this judgment takes place according to how the Gentiles treated Christ's brethren, the Jews (IMHO)

Wow!
God bless Russia, UAE and Turkey.

Thank you for sharing.

"Brothers of Mine" comes from Matthew 25:40. There it means the disciples of Jesus. Jesus never refers to anyone but his disciples as brothers.

All of the book of Matthew is focused on the Jews. Context demands that the Scripture in view is the “sheep” are those who were saved during the tribulation, and the “goats” are the unsaved who survived the tribulation. The “least of these” are the believing Jews (Jesus’ “brothers” in the flesh) who were persecuted and hunted down by the Antichrist during the great tribulation. During that time of intense trouble, only the righteous will risk their own well-being to help the Jewish people in their distress. The unrighteous will refuse to help, becoming complicit in the Antichrist’s extreme anti-Semitism and genocidal plans.
