Frédéric François Chopin, a Polish-national who later become a French expatriate, is the master of melodies in relation with Romantic-style piano music. His timeless melodies and excellent rubato and legato made him one of the finest pianists in day until his untimely death in 1849 (probably due to tuberculosis).
*Chopin's Larghetto was notably featured in choreographer John Neumeier's neoclassical work, La dame aux camélias, based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas, fils.
