Gal 5:16-18

Galatians 5:16-18
King James Version (KJV)
16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

The Spirit versus the Flesh
16 I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is against the Spirit, and the Spirit desires what is against the flesh; these are opposed to each other, so that you don’t do what you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.

16 When we are serving the Lord there is no sin. We sin when we stop serving the Lord and fall to the flesh. Free time is often room for us to fall into sin. When we focus on God we will not be focused on sin. Anything against the Lord’s will is sin. It is not sin to rest but often during our rest we are open to sin if we don’t be careful.

17 Our flesh hates good. The Spirit wants what is good. Our flesh is evil until the Lord changes us by His Spirit. When we grow in faith it is not by the flesh or our flesh growing but our spirit growing by the Spirit. As we grow in the Spirit we will not want the things of the flesh but want things of the Spirit. We will want to please God and not our fleshly desires. It is not the desires will go away but, that are desires will be controlled because we seek to please God more than we desire to please ourselves or others.

18 We follow the Spirit not the law. While the Spirit will not lead us to sin, we are not following after the law but after God’s will. Now it is not God’s will that we sin but we will at times due us being of the flesh but we will be lead to repent and continue to serve God by following after the Spirit. The fight with the flesh is a constant struggle as believers. We are guilty by the law but by grace we are made pure by the blood of Christ. There will be a day where we will finally no longer have to fight the flesh and then we will be in the Spirit.
