Gateway to Life

“Heaven can be entered only through the narrow gate!
The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide enough
for all the multitudes who choose its easy way.
But the Gateway to Life is small, and the road is narrow,
and only a few ever find it.”
Matthew 7:13-14

“Criteria for salvation:
Do you remember a time in your life
when you made a conscious decision
to put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ?

And God bless you brother Bob
Again, thank you for your faithfulness
Just a query on your post today.
Since it is taken from scripture one must assume that the student is a christian.
The verse in Matthew 7: 13 - 14 speaks of two roads, the wide and the narrow. Given that the two roads are descriptive of two ways that the student may choose, which are both in the context of the 'perceived' Christian's journey, what are the distinguishing factors or differences between the two?
I believe it is safe to assume either road would be chosen in sincerity.
Also, when it speaks of 'only the few' do you expect that the few would have an esoteric consciousness?

In a "truth in action" section of one of my bibles,
with reference to Mt 7:13-14 (also Lk 13:23-24) it says,
"Be suspect of things that are popular or favored by the
world-minded majority".
Then in "Keys to wise living" - referencing the same verses
it says, "Jesus motivates His disciples to live righteously by
emphasizing that living comes from the heart with love and
in trust, more than observance of an external code of ethics".

In your second question, in reference to "only the few",my definition
(taken from the internet) is "...something intended to be understood
by only a small number of people with a specialized knowledge or interest."

Jesus said,

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened
."
Matthew 7:7-8 (NIV)

I pray this comes close to answering your question.
Blessings!
