Gold and silver?

1Co 3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
1Co 3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1Co 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Co 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
1Co 3:14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Co 3:15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Every work built upon this foundatation- every work built on submission to God done by faith in Christ at His leading will have eternal value and cosequence
Every work born of committee or the plans of man apart from God's direct leadership is wood hay and stubble, no matter how pious or noble it seems will be burned away at judgement.

I think the following verses are connected to the verses above.

20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.
(2Ti.2:20,21)

Really, if we walk in obedience to God, leading by His Holly Spirit, we will have value in God's eyes and He will use us for fulfilling of His will.

Amen God's_Child, as a song say " You find purest gold in mirey clay"!:D

And to go a little farther it says in verse 17....If anyone destroys God's Temple, God will destroy that person, because God's Temple is holy and you are tht temple. ( NCV)

Doesn't it tell us as we read the whole chapter that our service doesn't earn our salvation. Our service however does impact our rewards. We are accepted into heaven on the basis of faith alone But we gain our crown in heaven by the fruits of our faith.

There are two persons that Paul talks about in this chapter. Both are saved but one adds to that foundation gold silver and jewels. The other is content without making a contribution to the Kingdom and his work is comprised of wood , grass and stubble.

On the day of judgement every ones work will be revealed. The fire will test every ones work.If the building that has been put on the foundation( Jesus Christ) still stands the builder will get his reward. If the building is burned up the buiider will suffer loss. Both builders will be saved but only one will be rewarded.
