HALLOWEEN!

I'll have to remember that one.
I think that it would help all us to remember In this light, it’s not surprising that Paul refers to false teachings as “things taught by demons” and that some who abandon the faith “follow deceiving spirits” in 1 Tim. 4:1.

Much of Satan’s activity in the world involves producing and disseminating ideas that contradict or distort God’s revelation.

Those who depart from the faith in the last times that Paul is referring to, will choose to listen to deceitful spirits and doctrines or teachings of demons. They will follow false teaching that sounds convincing and is intended to deceive. These falsehoods are carefully devised; their design is to deceive people from following the faith.

Consider for a moment what Paul said to Timothy to ensure that Timothy understands in 1 Tim. 4.
Paul provides him with a couple of specific examples.

1. The false teachers of the last times will forbid marriage and abstain from foods that God has permitted in vs #3.
2. Those who will depart from the faith will be deceived by a kind of legalism.
3. No longer will these people focus on the grace of Christ or the faith that Jesus authored and perfected.
4. They will attempt to regulate behavior in contradiction to the freedom God has provided.
That is the WHAT but what is the WHY?

Paul offers an explanation of why a person might choose to follow falsehood. Paul notes that one either agrees with the “sound instruction” of Christ or becomes “conceited and understand nothing.”

A teaching that differs from the apostle’s doctrine does not comport with godliness in 1 Timothy 6:3).

Also, he explains that these who depart from the faith have an unhealthy interest in controversies and disputes in 6:4.
Haven't YOU observed that right here on this forum and ALL others as well?????

The result is envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction.

Such is the condition of those who are depraved of mind and deprived of truth according to 1 Timothy 6:4–5.

Believe me brother, I agree with you about Christian Liberty......100 %!!!

Some activities which are not specifically rejected to in Scripture are left up to our personal convictions by the Holy Spirit.
Drinking alcohol comes to my mind. Using tobacco also comes to mind. A certain movie would apply. Questionable music also.

Those topics are actually NOT condemned by Scripture. But involvement in Witchcraft/Occult is specifically condemned.

If and when a church or a person goes along with what is the OCCULT/WITCHCRAFT with the idea that we need to compete with that said thing, we are then compromising with the works of Satan.

Now if a church decides to set up a stand manned by people who know the gospel and are giving out Christian tracs instead of candy and treats, and explaining the gospel, then YES that is acceptable. We as a church do that every Wednesday at our fair grounds on Farmers Day.
We hand out tracts and present the gospel to the kids in the main auditorium after they get their 'treats"

"After they get their treats"??????

I am sure you mean well and I do not mean to be confrontational, however, you must realize by your own words that ‘Trunk or Treat’ has nothing to do with evangelism or worshiping God; instead, it aligns with worldly pagan and Occultic celebrations.

Romans 12:2
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by renewing your mind.”

2 Corinthians 6:17
“Therefore, come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord.”

Now, all of us came come up with one excuse after another to explain why we are doing what God has told us not to do and of course, like everything else, it is a choice we all make.

IT is and has been my position that Instead of compromising with pagan customs disguised as fun events to make the kids have a good time, like “Trunk or Treat,” the church mission prioritizes the gospel and holiness and rejects worldly influences.

Titus 2:7
“In everything, set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching, show integrity and seriousness.”

No matter how we spin it, the bottom line is that “Treat or Treat” or Trunk or Treat has no place in a church. It is rooted in pagan tradition.

I have NO idea why those lines were added to this post. I do not know how to remove them but I did not know how I did it or I would fix it.

If the moderators added those lines because they did not agree or thought them to be against the rules, I would suggest that they be deleted.

Still think that the bible would allow for the Church to redeem this day for the Lord Jesus

You are welcome to think anything you choose and please do not feel as though I am judging you.

Of course God can do anything but the fact is He has already told us that we are to STAY AWAY and reject the Occult, demonic and Satanic events that are all around us.

Again....the question must be asked......do we simply ignore those Scripture that command us to come out of the world and be separate????

My dear brother, the roots of halloween are in the Celtic and Druid religion that they thought the boundary between the world of the living and the dead became thin, allowing ghosts to return to earth.

During Samhain, as that is when the Celtic priests and Druids performed special rituals. They built huge bonfires where people burned crops and animals as sacrifices to their gods. IT WAS A RELIGEOUSE WORSHIP ACT!!!!

They wore costumes, typically made from animal skins, and tried to tell each other’s fortunes. When the celebration was over, they lit their hearth fires from the sacred bonfire using hollowed out pumpkins as lanterns to protect them during the coming winter.

So then here comes the Compromise! As Christianity spread through Celtic lands, the church tried to provide an alternative to this pagan festival. In 835 AD, Pope Gregory IV established All Saints’ Day on November 1st. The night before became known as “All Hallows’ Eve,” which eventually became “Halloween.” However, many of the old pagan practices continued, merely taking on new forms.

That is what happens when we do not separate from paganism.

Question: When I was a kid, we said "trick or treat." How did it ever become “Trunk or Treat,”?
and what does it even mean?
Trunk or Treat has become synonymous with Trick or Treat by churches here in Florida.
Churches would place candy in car trunks, park in the parking lot and give out candy to kids.

It is meant to be an alternative but it is instead simply an addition. Kids dress up as ghosts, and demons and go to the local church and the right back out to the neighborhood to do the same thing they allways have.
