The washer and dryer install guys were here just this morning, and had I not been standing there to see him drop the valve cap down into the washer drain in the wall, they may have completed the install and moved on. The leader, after getting out of the apartment we just moved into, on his way to the hardware store to get one of those wire claw grabbers, cursed after leaving, cluing me into the fact that he may very well have left it as is, which would have caused the washer drain to spew water all over the laundry room floor!
