How Do You Feel When You Sin?

Lately I've convinced myself that masturbation (the pornographic kind) was actually okay for relieving sexual tension. So I did it more times in the past few days than I have in weeks trying to abstain.

Even though I convinced myself it was okay, I still know it is a sin. And my chest/heart area feels hurt almost. I feel dirty, and unclean, not even to God, but to myself!

Anyways, I've since asked God again to help me get rid of my sin, not only for what it is, but how it makes me feel!

It makes me feel like there is some kind of blockage in my center being, if you know what I mean. I'm almost positive it's the Holy Spirit.

My little brother in the Lord.. The fact that your heart is broken at your own sinfulness, proves your heart belongs to Christ... Go to Him, for He along can help you...

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Now who needs "mercy" and grace to help? But those who find themselves in a certain sin? This scripture is not written to those who don't "sin" but those who do!

Not to encourage sin, but masturbation must be at the complete bottom of the pile. What you think however is a different issue. Our thoughts can go from no evil, to moderate evil to ridiculously evil when masturbating. The action itself is not a sin, if it could only remain as such.

You must remember when you are married one day, you will STILL battle with thought life. Thoughts is where the battle is for you / us. Porn kicks us far down. Avoiding it is a must.

It depends what sin. Sexual sin makes me feel dirty. Outburst of anger disgraced. Not standing up for Jesus (the worst sin), ashamed / deserving of hell.

However, after an honest session of harsh self judgment leading to repentance and enforcing practical measures to deal with sin holding me down, clean and free. Able to talk to God again :).

God made sex. God knows we crave it. God knows we crave it when not married. Is God surprised if we masturbate? I doubt it. Is God shocked / hurt if we think of porno type thoughts, definitely! Try control thoughts and the guilt will calm down. Sex is a funny thing. Even in marriage you can feel guilty :p. I think there is a lot more to being 'holier' if celibate!

There is guilt and any other feeling you may be susceptible to, but the truth is written in the word. We are dead to any law!

Romans 7:6-8 (KJV)
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not [in] the oldness of the letter. What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin [was] dead.

BUT...

1 Peter 2:15-17 (KJV)
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: As free, and not using [your] liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honour all [men]. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

What this means is this:

1 Corinthians 6:12 (KJV)
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient (helpful): all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

God doesn't wish us to be back in prison, even to sin but to overcome the flesh! Then the devil comes with self-condemnation, which is an abomination to the Lord.

Proverbs 17:15 (KJV)
He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both [are] abomination to the LORD.

This includes self-condemnation... and then that happens...

1 John 3:20 (KJV)
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

1 John 1:9 (KJV)
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Just my two cents...

Any sin that is repetitive is a form of spiritual harassment...but we have hope!

1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Whenever I have been buffeted by temptation, I am always reminded of this verse and I have trained myself to look for the way of escape that God promises. Be mindful enough to look for that escape and follow it out of the temptation until you are no longer harassed by it.

We know that if you take a gun, point it to your head and pull the trigger, you will for sure kill yourself.

When God told Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil it was because it would kill them. What they did is the same thing as pointing a gun at their heads and pulling the trigger. Adam and Eve killed them selfs!!! The Lord had a problem in restoring man back to into right fellowship with him. If he just restored man back to his former condition, as soon as he would sin again it would kill him again!!! To prevent this from happening God sent his Son to live a sinless life, and die for mans sins and then take that exact same spirit that was in Jesus and place it within man. A spirit that can never sin, never die, and never fail in any way. That my friend is the spirit that is in you.

The reason we fall and stumble at times is because of the sins of the flesh, not of the heart. Letting the mind of Christ to operate in your heart will prevent certain things that cause us not to grieve the Holy Spirit. Learning this takes a life time to learn through trail and error. Our conscience lets us know when we miss the mark and need to confess our sins, and the Lord will and does forgive us and then cleanse us from all unrighteousnesses. I call it doing my laundry every day.

Of course I sin -- they're rather boring sins, but I'm a human being. Feelings of guilt or shame depending on what I've done or failed to do measures on what sin was committed. But the ones that hit the hardest for me are the ones I commit knowing full-well that it deliberately goes against God. In other words when I know it offends God but I do it anyway out of my own selfishness.

When it's a sin like that, I especially feel disconnected because I know I am not in a state of grace. The next step from there is to confess my sins, bring them forward, and make right with Him.
