We live in a fallen world... God did not promise us lives of EASE.... but HE did promise to see us through EACH and EVERY TRIAL. The natural landscape of any given geography comes with it's own RISKS. If you combine the natural elements and the changing climate...It only stands to reason that natural disasters are going to occur... and because the land is densely populated and we are building structures where forests used to be... there is bound to be disasters. Add in drought... poorly managed forests... fires.... and the land is not able to handle the STRESS placed upon it without SEVERE consequences. This disaster CANNOT be explained in any sufficient way that would comfort any NON-BELIEVER... and even for a BELIEVER.... this tragedy is most difficult to digest.
The perennial problem of why God permits bad things to happen to good people cannot be answered with simple solutions. The issue is far too complex and multi-faceted. The complete answer rests only in the mind of God.Good morning, In Awe of Him;
This fundamental question gets asked all the time; "how does one explain why God would allow such a thing?"
Your good post helps us understand God. Proverbs 16:4, Isaiah 55:8-9, Romans 8:28, James 1:2-4, scriptures in the Old and New Testaments provide this challenging question and teaching.
I knew I would personally learn more from reading the Cabin.
God bless you and thank you for sharing, sister.

A man aboard a ship during WWII received a telegram saying his son had died in battle. In response, we went out on deck in the evening and prayed. As a result, he composed the song It Is Well With My Soul.

He was saved because a crewman harpooned him.John Newton as a slave trader nearly died on his ship in big storm, and used that as means to write anazing grace
This has been the question asked for thousands of years. No one can give an acceptable answer that will satisfy those who have lost loved ones. This is a question that has no satisfying answer. We can look to Job for company, knowing God overseas all. We must accept that events happen for his reason alone. It can be a bitter pill but we have no choice but to accept it, and God, or reject it. When you find someone who is suffering a crisis of faith, pray with them. If you cannot pray with them, pray for them.
Very interesting how the Lord saved Him, and That he became a big enemy against slavery, being before his salvation one of the chief captains gathering those slaves'He was saved because a crewman harpooned him.
The only real hope would be that the God of all creation decided to step into our sin ridden cursed world to make it right eventually by sending His only Son to die as our sin bearer and to have that curse of Adam Fall one day redeemed over all creationThis has been the question asked for thousands of years. We can say......Bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people but that does not satisfy the hole in our hearts.
We can say......God needed those who died in heaven more than we needed them here on earth. That sounds good but it does not heal.
Personally, I have NO clue. When we see the tragedy in Texas, and North Carolina and the fires in California, the grief we feel is heavy, raw, and real. It literally makes me sick to my stomach to think of what those parents are going through right now.
When Job complained and asked God why bad things were happening to him, God said to him in Job 38:4......
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?”
You see, and this is hard for most of us to accept, but a lot of natural disasters happen because of US! Yes....us.
That same river that took life in Texas gave life along its banks for thousands of years. It turned deadly because "we" choose to live toooo close to it. The same skies that bring gentle rain can unleash torrents and that is what we saw in North Carolina.
It is like building a city at the foot of a volcano and then being surprised and discouraged when it erupts and kills a lot of people.
It is like building a city/home on the beach facing that Atlantic ocean and then getting angry at God when a hurricane destroys it.
It is like building a home on the San Andres fault and being surprised when an earthquake destroys it.
Do those comments make the person in depression feel better? NO. However they do allow us to understand that it was NOT God who did it And God, in His mysterious love, doesn’t always intervene the way we wish He would (and for most of us, that’s hard to understand).
