I’m Thanks for the inspiration bob in faith

Skimming pebbles

Went for a walk along the beach to try and clear my head,
Got my self into such a state
I know I’m forgiven, so I forgive,
But just can’t forget

What we cannot forget creates a new way to remember
And like the crashing waves
The cacophony of noise
these memories make,
Shouting anger and resentment,
They come storming in
Colouring everything
Blurring my vision

I try fighting back
Picked up stones
And threw them into the raging storm
Each one named ‘forget’
Crashed into the water
never to be seen again

Started to fill my pockets
each pebble had a name,
Things I held on to
A situation, a time, a place,
Where although I had forgiven
Memories still linger on

Pocket now full, weighed down
I turned to the angry sea
And one by one
Threw the stones Into the sea, never to be seen again

Some disappeared straight away
Others skimmed the waves
Bouncing several times before being buried in the deep, deep sea
Never to be seen again

With empty pocket
And a light heart
Along the beach I strode
Into the sand dunes
Where in a hollow
The sound of the angry sea
Faded away
I sat, laid back hands behind my head,
Forgiven
Resting in Jesus arms
