Well, when we can't even agree on "What should we eat for supper?", it is not likely that agreement could be had on the Bible.Yet we still have dozens of denominations. If everyone agreed, there'd be only one.

Think the danger point for any beleiver is when we identify more with our local church and or demonination more so that being a Christian, as we are a methodist Baptist etc instead of being Christian first, and that our theology is primarily not what does the bible state, but what my denominational statement of beliefs areBetter late than never!
Absolutely nothing wrong with what you just described. If by saying "factions" I am assuming you are referring to the different denominations of the Christian faith.
That determination usually comes by what ever denomination you unite with that you believe matches your "self study" of the Bible.
I am person who identifies with the Southern Baptist Convention of churches. I studied in a Presbyterian and an Independant school. I did that because of the VA loan program and a scholarship. It was later I come to the conclusion that the SBC was the closest to the Bible.
Now does that mean they are the perfect "faction"? Absolutely not! However when compared to all the others, I felt very comfortable in their statement of faith and doctrinal positions.
Now you know!

indeed we need to lean upon sound teachers and pastors as gifts to the church, as too many times Christians are getting tossed to and fro hearing bad teachings, accepting bad doctrines and theology, just look at hw the Word of Faith have invaded many churchesGood morning, YeshuaFan;
For Church members who don't submit to disciplined, sound teaching from God's Word will expose their denomination first before their Christian belief. This is why it's so important for all Christians to pray for their Church's appointed teachers and preachers, that they're discerning their instruction from God in raising disciples. He will guide and help.
Proverbs 1:7, 7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. - KJV
2 Peter 3:18, 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen. - KJV
These are romantic and poetic verses and they do work.
Praise God there still remain a large chunk of Churches that are focused on Christian teaching, conduct and serving more so than their denomination. Yet, the work is unfinished with many of our Churches in these times, therefore, fervent prayer must remain constant.
God bless you, YeshuaFan.
