I Got a Feeling

I woke up thinking about feelings. I would like your take on the following:
  1. Are we saved by our 'feeling saved' or by the Blood Sacrifice?
  2. Are our feelings an indicator of our redemption?
  3. Are they a good gauge for our level of righteousness?
  4. What if we just don't 'feel' Christian today?

Feelings are only temporary, truth is eternal. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life.

You go through being happy, sad, grief, anger, and they will all interchange through out life until we die.

You can stand on truth however, for the truth will never lie to you.

God showed his love to us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Do you believe that?

The same spirit that rose Christ Jesus up from the dead, lives in side of you. Do you believe that?

Christ Jesus lives inside us as well. Do you believe that?

These are all scriptural truths.

Amen, thank you. I believe all that and I am not an emotion driven Christian.
I was just hoping to get some feedback on others' thoughts on 'feeling' like
a Christian. Sometimes it may be that people mistake a feeling for what they
perceive is the Spirit moving or lacking.

You say you are not an emotionally driven Christian. You might find that helpful, we all have those stages of feelings in life. Depression, Sadness, High anxiety, happiness, grief, anger, hatred. All of these emotions are all valid and one can not just say we do not experience them because as human beings you do.

These are all fleshly emotions and they are a factor of our life on this planet.
Galatians 5: 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Personally believe it is best to react on truth, and the truth is we are to have faith in God and to Love him first, and then we can love others having forgiveness, mercy, kindness, gentleness, joy, peace towards others, but do not know how this all works for other individuals.

Can you explains more about what are some of the emotions and feelings you have trouble with?

For me all it is only possible to work with what am given at any time sometimes there is down time, some time there is up time where going about my day and just do what is done hoping and trusting in God and the Lord Jesus Christ having peace, joy, and thankfulness in my heart and towards others as the day goes on. (while not paying much mind to the world itself) (Still however not perfect and do suffer from the emotional toll that comes and goes as said before the temporary emotions)

I didn't say I don't have feelings which are natural to carnal humanness
just that I am not emotion driven when it comes to spiritual matters.
I don't get spiritual highs or lows; just Christian living in a sinful world.

If you believe the bible you should know the spirit lives inside of you. The Lord Jesus Christ is the one who baptizes us in the holy spirit. Believers who believe and place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, receive the spirit.

Even people who have never heard of the name Jesus believe it is even possible for people in far away places to receive the spirit if they say 'hey there is something much bigger than me out here, that causes me to desire to trust in 'It' Him more than myself and to love others *(because Romans 1:20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.)

Am very unorthodox Christian, and believe in very radical things concerning Christ Jesus our Lord and God our Father.

Here are some scriptures about the holy spirit and spirit of Christ.

Romans 8: 9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)

Romans 8: 11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Matthew 3:11 “I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

John 14:26 But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

Amen to that! I have received Holy Spirit. I appreciate your feedback.

Hello Sam;

Welcome to being a Christian. Yes, to all four. There is a fundamental teaching and answers, but our spiritual, physical, feelings, thoughts and actions are all mixed and tangled in our being that gets in the way. Regardless, how do we handle it? Are we going to get back on our feet each new day and continue to follow Jesus? Thats KEY.

I am saved by my feeling and by the Blood Sacrifice, just as much as I'm loved by Jesus. Why not reap the blessings of both.

My feelings are an indicator of our redemption. It's my feeling of the long, hard road of struggling with God and myself.

A good gauge of our level of righteousness? Absolutely. A good gauge is a good tool as God empowers us with the Armor.

I just taught this last Thursday evening at Bible study. We All feel at times of not feeling Christian. God understands each of us. So how do we handle it? Be honest with Him. If I could only count the ways in my marriage, driving, going to the market, gas station and even church. What a relief that God knows everything about me and my attitude.

Following Jesus is His taking each one of God's children and sorting all this stuff out while continuously doing a good work in us.

Sam, this is my take between God and me. I'm curious. After you woke up this morning with these feelings, what is your take, brother, and how do you reconcile it?

God bless you, Sam, and your family.

I just woke up thinking about how we can misconstrue what we feel as being
near or far to salvation. Those feelings of being a Christian or not does not
determine our salvation as Christ did not say when we get saved that we will
feel giddy every day but that in this world there will be tribulation.

We may just not 'feel' like a Christian today and may 'feel' like one tomorrow
and then not the next. The grime of the world can make us feel a lot of things
but Jesus doesn't wipe His blood from our foreheads just because we don't
feel Christian.

Your response is perfect and I see what I was alluding to in your response.
I always appreciate your feedback and your experience, brother. I do not
mean to condescend toward anyone but that we are accurate in our self-assessment
when it comes to righteousness; actual or perceived. Does that make sense?

Guess it is true that our feelings sometimes do play a role in the field of our relationship with God.

Sometimes feelings of not wanting to go to work come into play, or not wanting to pray, but when you can receive such a delight in knowing that God cares for you and desires to hear from you why wouldn't you desire to go to him, and pray for all the people in your life, and also admit to him what is going on and why you might not be 'feeling' alright.

There have been plenty of days that been angry, but Asked God please, help me with these feelings that are causing me trouble and help me be able to be kind, gentle and lead by the spirit and let my flesh die down from itself.

Cause the flesh and spirit fight constantly with each other, and if we build up our spiritual body, by the spirit of Christ/Holy spirit what a major relief that is because of how many times we have had trouble in our past when we never had God there.

It took 26 years for the void in my own heart to be filled by the Lord Jesus Christ, and even then struggled through drugs, bad relationships, anger and depression, seeking pornography, and worldly things for relief rather than going to the source.

Our Great mighty, merciful, forgiving, loving God who sent his son Jesus Christ down from heaven to die for our sins even while we were still sinners that we can have a relationship with Him freely, and have no shame in going to Him.

I am right there with you, brother. I am just another unworthy, dirty sinner saved by Jesus.

Hello MatthewG;

I am blessed by your posts. From getting to know your testimony I can sense your "hard knocks" experience in areas many of us have been. What ministers to me is no matter, you lay your argument at the feet of God and ask Him to help you.

Nazarene Servant
presented a topic that gives us all much to think about. The reason I say this is because where we are today will be a new chapter in our later years, a constant struggle but is already included in our relationship with Christ, and how He carries us through it.

God bless you, brother and your family.

That is the thing though sir. You are not seen as a sinner anymore, if you are a believer. You are seen a child of God now. Your past life is gone, and you laid that life down at the cross and we put on a new spiritual nature.

All of the drug usage for me in my life after asking God to help me dedicate my life to no longer using has been stripped away from me.

All my pornography that was addicting me to go and use those things, when asking God to help me dedicate my life to no longer use those things has been stripped away from me.

All my hatred towards my family, friends, and people in general, and gossiping and lying about others, stealing from my family. All of those things have been stripped away from me when giving up my own life for the desire to serve God.

All my desire now is to serve God and have him in the front of my mind even though I might be considered a do nothing Christian and stay to myself still, would love one day to teach the bible and help people and encourage them in their faith towards God. That is my purpose now after 4 years worth of walking with God.

To serve him and his purpose... because my self and the ways that I handle things are completely destructive.

Thank you for listening, because it part of my testimony.

Thank you for your comments, nazarene, and bobinfaith. You both take care, and God bless.

I have a LONG way to go in my walk with Jesus. I am proud, of what I don't know.
I am argumentative with no knowledge belonging to me. I am lacking in love and
my carnal feelings are all but dead. I am a mess and all of my life experience has
made me less, not more.

Amen! I too was addicted to substance, pornography, gambling, etc. In all of that
I learned how weak I am and dependent on both God and fellow believers to
attain to a better form of myself as a new creature in Christ. If you ever need to
talk I am always available to you via PM or otherwise. I hope that I may be afforded
the same.

1. Blood Sacrifice
2. No
3. No
4. 2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV) (For we walk by faith, not by sight... (or feelings)

I am saved by my feeling and by the Blood Sacrifice,
How do 'our feelings' save us? Isn't that adding to Christ's redemptive work for us? How many or what kind of feelings must we add to know we are saved?
(Bob, just seen your post, perhaps these questions will help me explain my thoughts as you answer them. BBL)
