Jezebel in Today's Time?

"There Is No “Jezebel Spirit” – Let’s Talk About What the Bible Really Says
In the New Testament, the name Jezebel is used symbolically in Revelation 2 to describe a woman in the church at Thyatira who is accused of leading others into immorality and idolatry, drawing a comparison to the historical Jezebel. The name "Jezebel" has since become synonymous with a wicked, power-hungry, and immoral woman, often used as a derogatory term. Some modern interpretations suggest her portrayal may reflect a broader biblical discomfort with powerful women who defy patriarchal authority, and her "sin" may have been her refusal to yield power and her defiance of male rulers."

Do you think Jezebel is "alive and well" Today?

And if so ...

How could the "spirit of Jezebel" affect us Today?

Do you have any thoughts on Modern Day "Jezebel"?

Do you have any stories (closer to Home) that you could share, about a "Jezebel"?

America had a Jezebel for a presidential candidate in 2016.

There are 2 names that I've noticed parents in western culture don't give their children: Judas and Jezebel.

I am actually praying on how to handle a "Jezebel Spirit" which is "close to Home" ...

For many years I have been accused, abused, and very confused!

As my Faith and Trust in Father God grows, I seem to be seeing things clearer ...
Yet I still need to know more about "modern day Jezebels" and how to handle "them"

My Sister is a Child of God and during a sharing with her, she actually brought up "Jezebel" (which I knew little about) and describes her as a demonic spirit who possesses people. The people she possesses do not necessarily know that they are possessed, therefore "it is not the person who is doing the harm, but rather the demonic spirit".

The behaviour that I have been experiencing first hand, is linked to years of addictions, alcoholism and drug abuse ...

The traits that I am recognising are:

roller coaster relationship (up and down, hot and cold)
yet very charming to strangers
very abusive and manipulative to loved ones
naming, shaming and blaming
mood swings
insatiable expectations
no gratitude, only more and more exhaustible demands, as the years go on

The loved one being described has been through rehabilitation and has been sober for two + years

I have prayed for her for many years, and am so grateful that she is now sober. I so wanted a good relationship ...
However, she seems to be becoming cleverer and cleverer in her deceitful ways, through manipulation, and projections. This only happens when we are alone.

It disturbs me that I fall for
the projections, the manipulative and dishonest talk ... I guess it is because I am willing to be "wrong"

I do believe that things are shifting for me, but I am not there just yet!

I know that Father God, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit will Guide me, because they Are : )

It is a difficult time, and I know that I will get through this ...
I am sharing this because I would like to get more clarity from the Group, thanks Linda

Your original question was.....Is there a Jezebel spirit today"?

Absolutely there is! What then is a Jezebel Spirit??? Allow me to ask you is you know of anyone who..........
1. Is manipulative?
2. Opposes the Word of God?
3. Demands to be in control?
4. Rebels at any authority?
5. Undermines others?
6. Causes confusion?
7. Subverts the proper worship of God.

If you do, then you know now that the Jezebel spirit is alive and well!

The original Jezebel in 1 Kings had an obsessive passion for domineering and controlling others, especially in the spiritual realm.
When she became queen, she began a relentless campaign to rid Israel of all evidences of Yahweh worship. She ordered the extermination of all the prophets of the Lord and replaced their altars with those of Baal.

She was the one who had the innocent Naboth framed and stoned to death simply to gain a piece of dirt. Naboth’s sons were also stoned to death, so there would be no heirs, and the land would revert to the possession of the king. Such a single-minded determination to have one’s way, no matter who is destroyed in the process, is a characteristic of the Jezebel spirit.

The warning to the church at Thyatira is referring to a woman in the church who influenced it the same way Jezebel influenced Israel into idolatry and sexual immorality, Jesus declares to the Thyatirans that she is not to be tolerated. Whoever this woman was, she, like Jezebel, refused to repent of her immorality and her false teaching, and her fate was sealed. The Lord Jesus cast her onto a sick bed, along with those who committed idolatry with her.

Now then......I personally do not believe that a Jezebel spirit is a personal demon or class of demons.

But the wicked woman in Thyatira could be said to be acting in the “spirit” of Jezebel. That is, she had a character or disposition resembling that of Jezebel and was doing the same types of things Jezebel did. A similar concept is John the Baptist acting “in the spirit and power of Elijah”. It’s not that Elijah was possessing John, but that John exhibited a character and disposition similar to Elijah’s.

Hello Yesua888;

Yes, to your questions that I red-lighted. Whether on the world, political, Church or individual stage, this is a serious topic that is "alive and woe" today that needs careful attention to all believers.

10 years ago I was unaware of a personality feud that had been going on between two women in our Church. One was an elderly sister, young grandmother who loved the Lord, attended our Church and Bible study weekly, but made indirect remarks under her breath toward a younger sister. (It appeared to be a fierce jealousy that had been going on for some time.)

The younger sister (mid 30s,) loved the Lord, was very zealous, attractive, single and was very gifted in the music and children's ministries, (but she came from well to do parents and developed at times a spoiled and rebellious attitude toward the Board and Elders in the Church.)

The younger sister made a remark of a "Jezebel Spirit" toward the elder sister who caught wind of this. She reacted by calling me late one evening and broke down bawling over the phone feeling verbally attacked and disrespected. I believe her pride was bruised.

This may be a mild example but it festered and spread like a cancer, resulting in a division between some of the other women and forming gossip within the Church. This got out of hand!

I was requested by our elder, deacon and one women leader to hold a meeting regarding the two sisters. It started as civil but escalated to a voice raising, verbal confrontation. I was taken aback, got upset and left the room with our elder. The woman leader and our deacon (witness) felt it best for me not to return but for the both of them remain and mediate.

After 3 hours, yes, 3 hours, it seemed the two sisters got their confessions out in the open. Both agreed that this got out of control and that it took the Lord's glory away. The two came to their senses and our woman leader and deacon called for a followup meeting.

After a few days another meeting followed. This time cooled heads between the two sisters led to forgiveness, forgiveness led to reconciliation. The two never became best friends but confessed they loved each other and were looking at the bigger picture of God's Church and Kingdom.

We were blessed in this instant with closure. But this is not so fortunate in many other areas regarding the principalities of darkness, devious immoral and handling of people and underlying motives for personal gain which can define the Jezebel Spirit.

God bless everyone.

Bob

There Is No “Jezebel Spirit”
there is a jezebel spirit jezebel was a controlling manulapting woman who wanted Naboth's vineyard at all cost.. her weakling husband could not take it . today in many churches there is a power play for control . i have seen it first hand ..it split another church some 30 miles from me. the pastor felt led to step down to move to another type ministry.. the associate pastor was to be the one succeed .. but there was some in the church that did not want him... so the started a campaign to keep him out.. only to as to date bring in a pastor that would take control of the pulpit and make the church a working body

Reading your post brought back a memory that I thought I had forgotten.

In a church that I was called to had a problem between two families that was rooted between the two female (Jezabel) heads of their familes.

They came to church, but sat on the complete opposite side of the church. They never spoke to each other and refused to even offer a prayer for their families.

We tried what you did. Meeting with both and asking questions but never got any clousure. At one point, the chairman of the deacons, an older and very blunt man, said right to both of these ladies......"
You ladies have a Jezabel spirit and I think you both need to find another church to attend so that we can get back to what we should be doing"!

Both ladies refused to confess and repent and Another deacon said amen....they voted and BOOM!

Theie absence brought instant peace.

Good morning, Major;

The leadership had to protect the Church family with that necessary ultimatum. The two sisters who refused to confess / repent ended up leaving.

Chances are they took their baggage to another Church.

Is your former Church still worshiping today and how are they doing?

God bless you, brother.

Bob
