jonah

when jonah was thrown over board and the whale swallowed him.. ( please note jonah did pray in the belly of whale )

back to the question did jonah die in the belly of the whale and was restricted

or was he kept alive those 3 days i would like to show some interesting scripture for our discussion { this is if this can generate any discussion } i have enlarged 4-6 ..

1 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

2And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

3For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

4Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

5The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

6I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

7When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

8They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

9But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

10And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

out of curiosity was he dead brought back to life.. or kept alive ?

I doubt that he died, but God hasn't given us the answer to the question.

What is the significance of Jesus mentioning Jonah in the whale's belly? Why not just say that He would rise on the third day?

Matthew 12:40

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

YES I HAD THOUGHT OF THAT this is not a theological debate but a simple discussion the sign of jonah
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
christ arose from the dead after 3 days jonah 2:6 “I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.”

once again this is a discussion . its not about who is right who is wrong.. i am surprised it has went this far these scripture can suggest he died and was ressurrected .

Psalm 16:10

10 ;For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. the two words corruption.
